Going to be hunting a small field opening day and i was wondering what would be a safe distance to be away from someone dove hunting ?

Well, I hunt public land quite a bit and it's not very uncommon to have someone within 100yrds of ya. Just gotta have some courtesy for the other hunters. I'm one of the guys that if I wouldn't do it to you I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't do it to me. Then again, you always the the one or two yahoos that like to get there right at shooting time and set up 50yrds in front of you.

100 yards is not bad, just wear eye protection.

Haha yeah. Just be sure when you hear the "BANG" don't look up. And wearing a boonie hat helps a bit to.

I try to stay 200 yards or more from people while dove hunting. I had a friend loose an eye last season so I am pretty wary around other people who are shooting at flying birds.
