I've located a Bernadelli double 12, Roma 2 series, a definite Italian made version in full/mod 30 inch barrels. Any opinions regarding this shotgun. Listed as 98%, in reality about 92%, slight pitting of barrels, chambers clean and lockup tight. Asking price 2K, My opinion not a penny over 1800. From what I've heard the Roma series were not the best Bernadelli had to offer but still not bad. I'm curious about whether this weapon will handle an Argentina dove hunt.

Actually Bobo, probably not a bad deal on the weapon. Replacement new would go several grand and probably the equivalent of a current introductory AyA boxlock and about as good as some of the English stuff chambered in 2 1/2 which is way overpriced. The big cost of doubles involves the the frills as well as the regulation of the weapon and not the manufacture of the weapon itself. There are a lot of good working guns out there but you'd need the brains about what to look for. Guess that leaves you way out of the market.

Absolutely, just a dumb domestic redneck....
I see no use to spend the money above the normal production o/u or SxS, for hunting. Now if you toss in a sport where proper personal fitting actually helps then I agree.
As far as gun to take south.. Why risk it, borrow someone else's for the photo.

You can always refit the stock to some degree BOBO and besides they're lots of fun. I see no use to spend the money on domestic dove hunting when you can shoot forever and get your fill really fast. I see some of these guys charging 300 or more for a weekend. You've got to be kidding.

I agree it's high, and also agree south is a great alternative, wife is pushing for a spring trip for ducks.
There is a place in southlake and I forget the cost but it's very reasonable and they will fit your gun for life.
My point was I hate to see a gun with that history take the abuse of down south, assuming it even makes it there.

For the most part they will and you always carry insurance. Those doubles are really meant to take a beating but the comp O/U's are probably a bit better. Money says your wife will like spending a few days in Santiago Chile instead of BA.

So tell me Bobo, for a low tech rednech whose never been out of the county he was born in, what is your opinion of what shotgun for high volume shooting do you recommend? ( why do I not believe this?) There are lots of opinions out there and house guns are either Benelli or Beretta.

The one they will rent you and it cost you between 20-30 a day, and they clean it daily.
if your going to shot 200 rounds a day or more for 5 to 10 days, a gas or inertia semi auto from one of the B mfg's for dove and pigeons
There is one gun that has really caught my eye lately although not a viable option down there due to ammo but the new 28ga benelli legacy looks nice.

Basically I'm saying why take the chance on an expensive Gun. save the cash and book another trip back down there in the spring and wack some ducks.

Yeah, I see your points Bobo and they're all good. Rentals have ranged from 30 to 65 bucks a day and import fees are 100 ( per gun ) if I remember correctly which is an additional charge. Still I like to bring a shotgun that I'm familiar with and fits me. I thought about it and an older weapon just might not take the pounding that Argentina can deliver. Plus breakage for an out of production weapon will cost an arm and a leg.
