Basically, my experience with taxidermist hasn't been great so far. I dropped my fallow deer off with Danny Grey of Hunt-N-Fishin Taxidermy and he is a year in a half late on it and wont answer any calls or give me my money or animal back. So I am a little skeptical but I just shot an axis deer this weekend and it's my first one so I was really wanting to get the hide tanned up real nice... anyone know any good not too expensive places that tans hides. I am a college kid and money isn't that plentiful...

North Texas Tannery charges $32 for a whitetail hide. I don't know how much it will be for an Axis but probably not much more if any.
They do a great job. It takes about 2-3 months to get it back.
I'd definitely recommend them.
