Please click on following link for information regarding TPWD's lease license requirements. We had our county Game Warden on our lease the past two seasons asking for this document. Thanks for reading, hope it helps http://www.examiner.com/hunting-in-houst...nse-is-required

I'm curious what, if any, liability the hunters have if the landowner fails to comply?
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

I have known about this rule for years, but so far have never been asked about it when checked by our local Game Wardens.

He has no business on private land without probable cause. The only situation privy to that kinda patrol is border land by border agents.

You need a lease license if you are collecting any money from anyone for hunting. If you are a hunting lease and the landowner does not get the lease license you still need to get it because you will get the ticket. We ran into this several times already over the past couple years.

So, your saying a GW has no authority to check a deer camp with no reasonable suspition?
I'd ask him if he's pregnant. He missed a s__tload of periods. I'll take "things that look like a uterus" for $200 Alex.

If you are a hunting lease and the landowner does not get the lease license you still need to get it because you will get the ticket. We ran into this several times already over the past couple years. I call on this. The reg doesn't read anything like that. If I'm paying monies and the land owner/agent is collecting the monies he/she is not only solely responsible for the license but also for the taxes. hunting Lease License (Types 132, 133 and 134) Required of a landowner or landowner’s agent who leases hunting rights to another person on property they own or control for pay or other consideration. The license must be displayed on the property. License fee: $79 for 1 through 499 acres; $147 for 500 through 999 acres; or $252 for 1,000 acres or more. note: hunting lease license record book no longer required.I copied this out of the pdf I down loaded. Hope that wasn't too illegal.

And the wardens said we were required to give them a key or combo to the lock, we were told it was required or they could cut it to come "check" on us.

No GW is ever going to get a key to the land I hunt on. I own it and I can lock it if and when I chose. If a GW cut my lock he will buy a new one for distruction of private property. You might as well give the GW a key to your house so he can come in anytime he wants to to check for illegally taken game. I but the license every year and don't have a problem with it but they will NOT get a key, they can walk into camp.

Would it matter if I am just the land leasor/outfitter? I may have to call these guys I have delt with. Where do you find such information saying otherwise...

ANY law enforcement officer who says they should be given a key to your property should be removed from his position immediately. A game warden is allowed to enter private property if he has a reasonable belief that hunting is going on. If you aren't standing there with camo and a rifle, he better have a warrant.
Funny enough, one of the police officers who works for me told me they had a GW come into their house on the lease last year without knocking. It is all LEOs on that lease and they flipped out. Don't let any GW tell you nonsense about how they are exempt from the 4th amendment

I like to stay on good terms with the GW's I work with but there does come a point where enough is enough.
