Im opening a can of worms by asking this but I need help. I went into Cabelas and Academy and saw quite of few choices on game cameras. Whats a good camera and resolution to start. I dont need a 400 dollar camera but being in the surveillance camera business already I am able to buy direct. What are your thoughts On good brands and brands to stay away from.

I stay away from anything made by Wild Game Innovations.
I have recently gone to the new Bushnell Trophy Cam. Batteries last forever and I haven't had any issues with it.

This^^^ I use to like cuddebacks but man their customer service sux!!! Was running 50 bushnell trophy cams and they had great battery life and good quality pics. They recommend only sandisk SD cards though, I had trouble with kingstons.

I've got a moultrie I45 and it's great. You can buy the modem and a solar charger and it will send pics to your home computer. With a 300 mi roundtrip to the lease and gas @ $3.40+ a gallon it has more than paid for itself.

IMO all are made to be thrown away after one season at best. Sell the one with the best customer service and warranty and you will have somewhat happy customers.

Any camera would be ok as long as it has an auxiliary power port. I have 3 stealth cams and 1 primos, never had any issues with either. All are connected to a 12v battery and a solar panel. Havent had to buy batteries since before last deer season.

Bushnell Trophy Cam's....They are good for the money and I get on average 15K-20K pictures on a set of Lithium batteries...Picture quality is pretty good as well. Going on my second year with it and no problems. You can also buy a heavy duty steel case for these as well..Which is pre-drilled for lag bolts in the back...Holes in the sides for a Master Lock Python cable....Then the good old Master Lock..It does not go anywhere lol unless you cut the tree down..I bought mine on as a kit on Ebay and have been very happy with the setup. I think I paid $300 for everything...But the cams are much less by themselves.

Seems like I can get a pretty good deal on Ebay. Im going to buy the bushnell and a couple others and see what I like best. These will be going around feeders. New to the area Im hunting but not to the property and I want to see whats around me. Also want to set some up on high traffic areas in other parts of the ranch.

Stick to these rules and you will save your self a lot of stress:
1. Buy all cameras from Academy. Their return policy is second to non. Game Cams inherently have issues - I am convince whichever one you buy is a 50/50 proposition on how well it works and holds out. Academy is extremely liberal on when you bring em back for a return. Kepp the box and paperworkl. Cant go wrong. You may be able to save a few bucks on Ebay, Sportsman Guide, etc but you will pay for it and then some when it comes time to deal with a return - promise (been there done that)
2. Hook all your cams up to 12 volt batteries to take that out of the equation so you can focus on quality and not dealing with how many batteries the camera eats, etc. Smartest thing I ever did.
I am not a fan of the Stealth cams IR night pics - flash range sucks - will not buy another for that reason. I prefer regular flash cams - range and quality of night pics is just better (of the cams I bought)

I just got the pics off my new Bushnell Trophy Cam that Cabelas had on sale for $129 a couple of weeks ago. It will be going back to Cabelas tomorrow. Had 4421 pictures in 1 week. Because it took pictures every minute until the card was full regardless of if there was an animal in the pic. The IR flash range was poor as well. This was the second Bushnell I have tried. When they first came out with them I tried one and returned it as well. I guess I'll stick with Primos and Cuddeback for now.

I've had em all and have stuck with Primos Truthcams in the 46IR and 35IR can't beat it for the price. 35IR @ Amazon for 80 bucks, good deal imo.

And this is after the guy at Cabelas told me that Bushnell was their "least returned" game cam It may be - just think of how much the others get returned Bushnell is probably one of the most favorably rated cams out there. I just cant pay that much for a cam - will wait till they come down a bit more. What is crazy is my cheap arse Wildview 2 is darn near indestructable . Paid $49 for it and it made it through last year and still ticken. Takes crappy pics compared to fancier cams but it wont die. It shows me what is around , isnt supersensitive and has the regular flash. Bought it as a disposable cam thinking it would just get me through last season but here we are. Like I said in previous post - I am convinced it generally is a 50 / 50 shot for whichever you buy. not to mention this heat has cams doing all kinds of crazy stuff.

Wow sounds like nobody likes Wildgame Innovations. I have 2 of the small IR6 units that take 8 double AA batteries. I use the Ultimate Lithium batteries and they last a long time. I get great quality pics on both. Easy to use and no trouble out of either one. Maybe I have been one of the lucky ones. I've had both for over a year now.

Moultrie M80 - $129 at Academy and Cabelas. Decent review. I have taken a couple of thousand pics with mine and they compare favorably to quality of day and night pics of my BTC. Much cheaper also. Good luck - it is basically a crap shoot with any of them.
