I've been reading on golf cart forums about the need (or lack thereof) to slime your hunting golf cart tires. Many say that it's completely necessary and to slime as much as possible...others say that it throws the wheels out of balance and makes too much of a mess when you change the tires. So I thought I'd fall back on my trusty THF and see if anybody has any strong opinions either way....thanks in advance.

I've slimed my dad's golf cart, my RZR, and my 4 wheeler. A golf cart isn't going to get going fast enough to where you'll have to worry about balancing, and I've only run into issues on the atvs when it's super cold. After you ride for a bit, it loosens up and smooths out. It's impossible to balance atv type tires anyways, due to the nylon belting. If nothing else, it helps to have that little bit of rotating weight in there to help balance, kind of like the Dyna beads.
As far as the mess, I haven't had to have mine taken off since I slimed them. I suppose new tires would be the only reason, but that's such a seldom occurrence that I don't think it'd be a big deal.

Honestly, It's probably not going to effect a golf cart tire balance at all.
I don't run slime in my tires and I don't get anymore/less flats then others I ride with that do use slime.

It'll be out of balance when you first drive it, but will distribute pretty quickly and you won't even notice it. I drive in mesquite country and it works great. Worth every penny.

Go to the motorcycle shop and get the purple slime. I have used the green alot and it does good except on mesquite thorns. Some tire shops offer foam filled and you will never have to worry about a flat again or the slime pooling in one area when its cold.

Don't slime. Then we can chuckle when you post about having to walk back to camp due to a flat.
Seriously. Slime.

Slime. Pull out a thorn, watch the green dribble out for 30 seconds, all fixed up. I have used the green and yellow with no difference. Just give the tire guy a heads up before he breaks them down when you get new tires.

This stuff is suppose to be better from everything I have been reading. http://www.highlifter.com/p-352-hlp-pro-series-tire-sealant-32-oz-bottle.aspxI did slime the Mule I just sold and never had an issue so slime does work on the lighter duty thorns and such.

I tried to check the pressure in one of my Gator's tires the other day. The valve stem was on the bottom near the ground. Slime got in there and would not let me check the pressure or inflate the tire. I removed the valve core, cleaned, and repaced it. All was fine.

Slime them. I slimmed my foremans tires and stuck a piece of slim rebar through them and it filled the hole. I hunt around a bunch of mesquite and couldn't go with out it.

Greetings, Been running sealant for years - since mid 70's. Here in Central Texas with all the mesquites, you run it or you spend a lot of time walking back to the house. Used Berryman's tire sealer before it got hard to find. Used Slime since then. If the hole is too big for slime to seal, you gonna be walking anyway.
I have foam in my 4x4 tractor but it adds a lot of weight and kills the ride but I can mow right over mesquites with 2 inch torns like they ain't even there.
The flexible sidewalls on ATVs will cause the slime to work it's way out and you will have to plug them. Slime also makes a plug kit available at WalMart that works well in the flexy side walls of ATV tires.
I even run it in off road race bikes and can't tell any difference in balance and we haul [censored] on those.
There is a product named Rideon Sealant which is for high speed motorcyles that is a combo sealer/balancer that I run in my street bikes - works like a charm down to freezing - usually don't ride fast bikes in freezing weather. Look that up on the web and watch some of their videos.....

I don't like green slime. When I bought a new set of tires for my 4wheeler I found that the slime had deteriorated into little rubbery balls. The tire shop where I had them installed put some different stuff in them and I haven't really had a problem so can't attest to the difference.

slime them but make sure to put the same amount of pumps in each tire and that will help against the slight unbalancing. and for the mess i dont know many people that break down there own tires. i just tell the guy that about to do it hey theres slime in there which they generally already figure being a fourwheeler tire. i always carry a plug kit for bigger holes to. plugs and slime stop leaks fast

I am starting to get some leaks in toothpick size holes after five years. I may have to start over.

Slime it. Nothing sucks worse than out on the lease and a tire comes off the rim or you get one of those annoying mesquite thorns in your tire. I slimed my old tires on my Honda recon and it lasted forever. I ended up eventually going to Discount Tire to buy new tires just because my old tires were pretty bald. They dismounted the old tires and replaced my Honda with new ones. Glad it wasn't me doing it.
Started out as an evening hunt in the stand. Ended up being a siesta til 9pm.

If you are going to go off-road in Texas, slime them!!!! Balance is not a real issue, holding air is. They are an absolute mess when it comes to changing a tire though
