Today was the first day I've actually sat and shot these rests side by side. For me the most important thing to consider is the ripcord can be found for under $80 where as the QAD is in the $120 ball park. That's at least 6 arrows or a release difference in price and must be considered.
Ripcord-
Feels solid More metal Stick on pad appears to be attached better
Cons
Doesn't lock up on let down Much more akward to lock up especially one handed
QAD Ultra
Easy to lock up with thumb of bow hand Stays up when letting down (important for overdrawn arrows) Guaranteed to 400fps (didn't read the box of the ripcord)
cons
Price Plastic locking device
Adjustment wise both are very similar, allen wrenches with identifying marks for precision.
There has been lots of discussion about new rests so I am throwing this out there after a trip to the bow shop this evening. If money is no issue I think the QAD would get the nod but if you are considering money you have to decide how important the stay up on let down feature is as that is the biggest difference between the two.

Dont know what arrows you shoot but the 40.00 difference wont come close to buying me 6 arrows or a release. I just put a QAD on the Maxxis and I love it. I had one of the original Rip Cords and it sucked. Havent shot the code red but with the reviews the QAD gets here and other places the extra cash wasnt even a thought.

Gold Tip velocity hunters will buy half a dozen. FMJs are only $55 not far from $40

$40 for a 1000 bow is nothing in the big picture of things. If the quad was just slightly better than I would have it, I wouldnt let 40 bucks break a deal.
I see things bought all the time but in reality if you save another 2 weeks you could have a complete step up. Guns and bows.
Don't cheap out, especially on one of the most important peices of the bow.

I got a fancy QAD with a $30 green sticker on the side that has no business on a bowtech but it came with it and its got to be a little better than the old bisquit.
I was just comparing the QAD on my bow to the Ripcord on another guys bow.

yeah, "bone collector" edition. Wish it wasn't tuned or I could have pulled it off and traded it for a regular ultra.

RipCord makes only one model and it is a very good one for the money. I have it on my Destroyer and have taken game from Texas to Canada with no problems. You can also call the owners direct and ask them for support at which they are the best.

I'm sure both work like they should, but If I only had $80 and needed a rest... I'd save another $40 and get the QAD. A rest isn't something you want to go cheap on in my opinion.

QAD seems to have more of a proven track record. And I agree, when you look at the big picture and the costs of bowhunting, what's another $40?

Both great. I shoot the QAD and my relatives all shoot the Code Red. Never an issue out of any of them.

My QAD was worth the change to me. But I shot a biscuit for like, 6 or 7 years.
