Depends on what you are hunting, where you are hunting, and what kind of ammo you are using.
For waterfowling I mostly use a Mod choke. I shoot mostly :#2 steel shot on ducks and steel bb on geese.
Dear Lord please bullwhip me for saying this but I agree, Marcstar is in the lead. Please nobody use this as a quote!!!

Most of the time for steel a mod is pretty much a full choke since it patterns so much tighter than lead.

Unless the choke has been manufactured, taking that into count. Case in point is a full choke made by Rem for steel and /or lead. Patterns the same in my 870 as a steel only Mod. Don't just make a adjustment without patterning your shot.
Team Hillbilly I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left. Paralyzed Veterans of America

Ducks LM with 1 1/8oz #3 steel early season on the lake(first two weekends) or anytime I get to hunt a pond. .675 terror with 1 1/8oz #4 Hevisteel late season on the lake
Geese 1/4 oz BBs out of extended LM or extended IM. Works really well out of a facotry Remington Mod choke too. (Only get to go once a year and then only if I'm lucky.)
Thought for the day: Ducks were almost hunted to extinction long before camo was invented.
