Anyone wear these during your dove hunts?

Also, anyone planning on buying a pair next weekend during the tax free weekend?

Nope I dont wear them. They are way to hot IMO and I hunt in open fields with little cover so not many snakes around.

I have them. Last year I unintentionally uncovered a large cottonmouth with my boot in the tall grass next to the field.
Had a young dog out there and thought she was pointing a field mouse.

I wear em even in the winter months in Texas....I can justify spending 129 for thousands worth of hospital bills....Even in low grass never know where Mr No Shoulders is slithering through....

I don't but I always try look before I reach into cover to retrieve a bird. It's just too dang hot.

I know it is hot – but I will usually be hot and sweating anyway – might as well be safe as well

I don't and chance it like a DA. Almost stepped on a few and killed a few. Including a giant last year in the wide open 5 feet from my stool. Killed one in the open field a foot from my hand the next day picking up my empty hulls after getting a limit. Talk about some bad luck.

always wear them... who cares about it being hot... it is better to be safe and you can never be to careful out there... like everyone is saying... it only takes one time!

Every time without failure. Was struck in the shin 4/5 years ago by a copperhead lookin for a downed bird. Lucky to have had them on. You just never know. Have stepped on or over MANY a snakes that just layed there and did nothing. Only takes one time.

my snake boots are the only pair of hunting boots I own, so yes I wear them every time.... they are also real comfy, and water proof....

ALWAYS wear em. yes there hot but i have boots on with shorts and tshirt.

Who has been hit by snake with their boots on, did it hurt still?

I too have been known to do the snake boot and shorts thing early in the season... it's not a fashion show. The boots are worth the protection for heat tradeoff and cargo shorts almost compensate... almost

I've had as many as 4 Rattlers in one field 1 morning. If your hunting around here, ya better wear em. April, May, Sepetember and October is when I see them the most.

Of course, what else you gonna wear, sandals?

I use the zip on gaiter type from the King Ranch Saddle Shop, which zip on over whichever boots are most comfortable for the user. These are also nice for walking through areas with thorns, burrs, mud, and sand even where there is no concern about snakes.

Funny you say that,,I've had a few in sandals before..

I got into wearing the stiff hip boots during my trapping and coon hunting days. I still wear them for a lot of hunting including some teal season hunting. They double as snake boots when called for. I do own snake chaps, but rarely wear them unless I am actually hunting snakes.

I hunt alone often enough that I would be a fool not to wear them.
