Yes it is a great choice and one he can continue to use as he grows.

Very good chioce and one he can use the rest of his life, ger one that you can ger an adult size stock for. If the recoil is too much to start with for him use resuced recoil loads which are available from Remington or easy to reload also.

I have been using one since 1982 and

Great caliber, for his early years and well beyond.
My wife shoots a 7mm-08 and loves her gun. I also bought a Browning Micro Hunter Medallion Grade version for my grandson when he was 11 and he has been hunting with it for two years with great success.
Good choice in my opinion.

Defintely a round he can grow into. Heck I am 40 years old and I love my 7mm-08 and hunt with it. Even though I have larger "man" calibers, the 7-08 just gets it done, day in, day out.

My wife is about to het up graded to a 7-08 from a 243.

243 is a hell of a round but the 7-08 offer more energy with just a very slight bump in recoil.

Plus to the 7-08 is you can get a 2o-24 in barrel..

my 13 yr old shoots a 7mm08 and loves it, he shot a 2506 befor this,, and my 10 yr old shoots a 308.. i don't let them spend alot of time on the bench or shooting these guns bcuz i don't want them to develop a flinch, they both use a fairly similar set up in a 22 bolt action for practice and both have prtty good basics.

7mm08 is a fine round. I had one for well over ten years. if there is one rifle I would have to depend on above all others to put meat on my table, it would be my Remmy700 in 7MM08.

Never shot one but always had a 243 but from what I have read and heard about 7-08 I would have to agree and like to pick one up some day! The 243 is fine yote gun and has done decent on deer but the increase in bullet weight gets my attention.I know people have killed deer with 22 Hornets and 223's but a person can kill deer with a framing hammer if done right! hammer The 7-08 sounds like a winner.

7mm/08 is what my daughter is shooting with 120gr TSX and she says she really can't tell the difference in recoil of her .243, she recently took an Oryx with hers so it is plenty of gun, just an awesome round.

I still use my "girly" 7mm-08 for 90% of my big game hunting here. It has also taken plains game in Namibia and black bear in Canada.

I took my Oryx with a 7mm-08 as well so it is plenty of rifle. I plan on getting my son one in a couple of years so I am a fan to say the least.
