I would like to get a meat grinder and start doing my ground venison and pork sausage myself. I'll probably only use it a few times a year and have no clue what to get because the prices on these things range so much.

I always pay for quality but don't want overkill. Can anyone suggest something for me considering how often I will be using it? FYI: I like my meat ground up pretty fine.

Yea I have a LEM and it is great. Depending on the lbs of meat you will have to grind they have different sized grinders. This is the one I have.. http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=577733

We got the 1 3/4 hp grinder from cabelas, it has been great for us. If you are going to be grinding a fair amount of meat then some of the suggestions above will be a little under gunned in my opinion. We grind 300 lbs or so of meat about twice a year and it has be kickin but for about 8 or nine years and never looked back.

I know they used to be a little cheaper than they are now, but ours has been great.

Thanks for the input everyone. I think I'm going to go with the LEM in a .35 hp. I'll only be grinding a few times a year with pork/venison. Does anyone else have this model or have any experience with it?
