I am curious what ya'lls thoughts on on shoot through material on blinds is. Any negative experiences?

I carry fixed heads when I need to use it.

With fixed blades no problem. Never shot open on impact BH thru them.

Poor flight with open on impacts. Makes it hard to see clearly and you might as well forget about using a camera or videoing your hunt. I dont like the stuff.

I shot through it one time and will never again. Shot a doe in the paunch and of course it was because of the mesh.

This shot missed a tense doe at 22 yards, but it wasn't because of the mesh. She was smelling my tracks where I walked to pour out some golden nuggets that morning (this was sunset). She was wound tight as a fiddle string when I shot. I shouldn't have shot with her like that, but her fawn was about to wind me. I figured I might as well try. At the shot, her feet shot out and her chest literally slapped the ground. The arrow flew through the spot in mid-air that her heart had been occupying, but it went clean over the top of her back. Didn't even shave a hair off of her.




I took all these photos that evening - through the mesh. I spray paint all my mesh flat black for two reasons. 1) It dramatically reduces the glare that you get on camo mesh in direct sunlight. 2) I paint the mesh and the window flaps black so that when I am there hunting with the window flaps open, the deer don't notice a black hole that wasn't there yesterday. They grow accustomed to black holes. I can hunt with the mesh up or mesh down, and it's just black either way.



This young buck wasn't bothered by my smelly footprints. Too bad he wasn't old enough for an arrow.










If you paint the mesh flat black it really helps. Keeping it in the shade helps too, but even in direct sun the black mesh is WAY better than camo.

No problem at all to shoot through with a fixed blade broadhead. Everybody says that a Rage flies bad through the mesh, but I haven't heard anybody say that they actually tried it. Shoot a Rage or other mechanical head at your target with blade open/deployed and see how it flies. If it flies OK, then I'd bet money that it will do fine through the mesh too. If it flies bad, then don't shoot it through the mesh.

My son made this shot a couple years ago. It's my dad's blind, and he didn't have his windows painted yet. 40# bow with a Magnus Stinger.

been using double bull blinds for a couple years. Have used both spitfires and rages out to 35 yards while shooting threw mesh, with no issues

If you get a blind turtle stand you can rifle hunt and bow hunt without shooting through mesh. Some people dont have problems shooting through mesh but if i saw a monster buck out there i wouldnt want to take a chance on the mesh messing me up

but it depends on if youre shooting mechanical or fixed blades

I have a question regarding the shoot through mesh, how far away from it are you in the blind? Is the arrow clear of your rest when it hits the mesh or is the arrow still on the string when it hits the mesh? I've ever tried one of the shoot through systems but I like the idea of being able to pop a blind up anywhere. Ok, that is several questions...

Hard to say really. I have not had personal problems with it. But I have had other hunters use it with out problems. Some of them blame the mesh when they hit far back or off but honestly, I don't see an unusuall tear in the mesh to determine if it was because of it or not. I see plenty of people miss or make bad shots without the mesh as well.

I know too many good hunters who use it and have never had any problems...

I've never paid close enough attention during a shot to know for sure if the arrow was clear of the bow before the broadhead hit the mesh or not. Most of the time it probably isn't. The mesh is about like shooting through a spider web or a Kleenex though. It really doesn't do anything to the arrow.
