I have put up three hang on tree stands so far this weekend and honestly I think the heat is gonna kill me. I've got a few more to go and I hope I make it. I don't ever remember it being this hard!

Maybe it's because I am 48 years old and 30 lbs overweight, but I can't seem to stand the heat like I used to!

I am in East Texas and I think we are going to have a pretty good year over here. Need more rain, but everything is still green and I am seeing some good deer while scouting.

The boys and I hung stands out in Baylor County last weekend and it was depressingly dry. Looks like East Texas will see more hunting from me this year.

Two more stands to go!

Same boat as you brother, $8 and have been in better shape! I agree 100% on feeling it as you get older, thankfully I can use my little tractor to move stuff around.

You know it's hot when you see mosquitoes carrying canteens!!!

Yes I have - see my post on "tweaked ladder stand" in blinds and feeders smile

Seriously I hear ya - have spent half day every Saturday for last 5 weeks trying to get things up, limbs trimmed, etc and after 5 hours of busting my hump and going through two sets of clothes due to sweat - I am done. I cant believe how bad it is this year - sure seems way worse than last year. However I am getting older and more aches and pains smile

What I am surprised about is how much I ache. I don't remember it being this bad in the past. One thing I have done diffent this year that has made it easier in one sense is that I am using the Hunters Safety lineman's belt set up with my harness. What a difference that makes in being able to have BOTH hands free to hang a stand. No more hanging on with one hand while working with the other. If anyone has not tried this set up you need to do so. It makes all the difference in the world.

I just the think the heat is the killer this year. That lineman's belt doesn't help with that at all.

I'm 54 and just can't wait on the kids to come around to help me anymore and end up paying for it later!!! What's worse is having my wife tell me "I told you to wait" !!!

Oh man did my wife ever give it to me about why am I hanging 25 feet in a tree at my age in this heat. I do have my 13 year old son to help, but he is certainly not experienced enough to do much - at least I am not about to sit in a stand that he put up. He is very good for bringing me things up from the ground, including cold water.

I can certainly see how one day I will not be able to do this anymore and will have to hunt out of a ground blind. I hope that day is far off, although I have had some good luck out of those things on bow hunts where there were not good enough trees to hang a stand.

I know as much as I hate drinking water that doesn't have coffee or an occasional "beer" taste, I have started drinking allot (water). I started getting "more than normal" leg cramps and lower back aches, Doc said I was getting dehydrated. Said I should drink 16oz prior to working out side and a minimum of 6-8oz every 30 minutes. He said "if you aren't p'ing clear, you need water.

Can't wait for Winter.
