I have a feeling the RUT is coming early at my lease. I thought it would be Thanksgiving weekend, but looks like it will be next week.. While sittin in my blind (on my dad's first hunt) a few doe were at the feeder and along comes a 6 pointer chasing them off. He killed his first buck on his first hunt... Then my lease partner witnessed a small spike chasing the doe away from his feeder. On the way out, we made a pass around the lease and saw another buck 4pt chasing doe. For some reason I thought the rut would be in late november not this close to opening weekend. I am in brady Any one have any input..

We are hunting in Palo Pinto Co. in Santo and had 2 hunters report a shooter buck bird dogging a doe. And another hunter reported a small 8 pt busting up a group of does. Went to this site and got some interesting info that in our area according to a three year study by TPWD that doe's had been bred as early as Oct. 13 and as late as Dec. 17th. With the majority of the rut occuring between the 15th through the 20th.http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/huntwild/hunt/planning/rut_whitetailed_deer/
The deer herd is healthy and the rut should be awesome this year.

They have been rutting in Lavaca county for 2 weeks but I saw no evidence of it in Uvalde county this past weekend (they usually start around Thanksgiving).

Good Luck and Good Hunting.

I sure hope it is one of the next two weekends in Young County. I "have" to go to the inlaws for Thanksgiving and can't hunt that weekend - but I'll be hunting Saturday thru Tuesday the next two weekends. Just have to bring my boy back on Sunday evenings for school then head on back out.

I was going to do that this week but the rut just wasn't on yet. I suppose if it still isn't going on yet next weekend I may keep those 2 days of vacation and use them the Monday-Tuesday after Thanksgiving. I'm going to get that 10ptr during rut...I'm going to get that 10 ptr during rut...if I say it enough, it will happen...

God if he would only get a cramp or fall asleep next to the food block early Saturday morning....

Earl

No rut activity where I hunt in Erath county around Thurber. Maybe it will pick up this week.

No activity in Haskell County. Had a nice 8 point feeding in the wheat on the opposite side of the field from 6 does. He never even acknowledged that they were there, and each went their own ways.

My buddy hunts in Huntsville and said 8 point ran right to tinks 69, said he saw 4 bucks during day and no doe.

I am in Burleson and I saw a fresh scrape so I think it is still pre rut but coming really soon im hoping this weekend

If I put my wife in a high fence will her rack get bigger?

The rut is ON at our ranch. I actually had a doe use the truck as a barricade from a nice young 10 pointer Saturday morning. He was hot on her butt running down the side of our road and she couldn't shake him. She used the truck to try to get away from him. He wasn't 10 feet from the truck and didn't care one bit about that Chevy that was blocking him from his thoughts of love. She stopped on one side of the truck and he was on the other. She watched him for a few seconds then took off, thinking she had a head start and he ran right around the truck, hot on her tail.

Forgot to mention that several of my bucks are now missing brow tines, G2's and the tips of some of their main beams. I've been watching these bucks on the camera and from my bow stand. You get to know each one by name after a while. One of my best bucks that I was hoping would make it another year came up Saturday with one brow tine completely knocked off and missing 2" of one side of his main beam. I heard one fight going on about 100 yards from my bow blind Saturday too.
