i didn't see a section for knifes so i am just going to ask this question here, anyone use their knife/blade before? can't decide to get a spiderco or kabar... my 10 dollar wal-blade is getting really dull and the more i try to sharpen it the worst it gets, so off to the trash it goes...

Most of the guys in my platoon carried Spiderco folding knives. I was cheap and carried a Gerber Gator, but I never saw them break or any of complain about the knife they had.

Daily carry in garrison and hard use in the field.I broke the tip of my Gerber but I never saw any part of any of the Spyderco's break. Only time I ever saw any replaced is when they got lost.

Carried a Spyderco for 15 years. Replaced the first one after seven. Nothing wrong with the knife, i just wanted a bigger/stronger one than the original Delica, which for daily use, was just fine. ![smile smile](/forum/images/graemlins/default/smile.gif) Still carrying the second one. For the money, the Delica and Endura do well on the low end of the price range. The Manix, Mini-Manix and Chinook III do well on the strong indestructible but not cheap end of the price range.

I use the hell out of my spiderco. Carry it every day and it keeps an edge. Don't know which one I got but it's stainless blade and handle and I paid around $100 bucks for it. It's been worth every penny so far.

A full size sheath Kabar is still a decent blade.
I will not vouch for the smaller models as they are recent production.
For a good daily use blade, a Benchmade Griptilian or Mini-Griptilian or any of the Spydercos will be hard to beat.

Id go with Emerson. If you ever need the warranty its the best. Chances are you wont though...

I used to carry the Spyderco for years, until I got one of the SOG autoclips. Really liked the original design, but was recently changed when they brought them back on the market. The new ones are okay and economically priced about 15.00-20.00 bucks @ smokey mountain knife works. Now I'm carrying the Pentagon Elite and the small SOG Flash 1. They have been very durable and are easy to sharpen.

I really like my spyderCos. I just got the new FFG, took it to the gun show. It was only 3 weeks old. Gave it to the "knife guy" I've never seen someone grind so much metal off a knife. last time I'll ever use one of those guys. My knife is ruined.

I had a Spiderco for years. I broke the clip and they replaced it without any issues. I now carry either an Emerson or a Gerber, depending on my mood. I use them for field use right now and have been very happy with both. As for a fixed blade knife I use a Stryder. A bit on the expensive side, but lifetime guarntee and great customer service.
Back from Afghanistan and looking to catch up on the hunting I missed.

I've been carrying the same Spyderco Endura daily since 2006. It is on the large side for a pocket knife, but it's a great knife. If I ever lose it, I'll replace it with another Endura. Spyderco get's my vote over Kabar.
