Has anyone here had the opportunity to go on one of these types of hunts? If so I would like to get feedback on your experience, which outfitter you went with, would you ever go back and what might be somethings to look for or look out for when it comes to these packages? Give any details you feel are worth noting. I am interested in the idea but before ever paying prices like that, would like to be sure it was something worth paying for.

www.siersafaris.comRiverside La Paloma Lodge fly through Santiago and rent the lodge's guns (Beretta 391 20 gauges) a case of shells (500) per hunt is very do-able, so plan accordingly on the cash you bring to pay out when you're done enjoy

Hunted with Paco Riestra in '07. www.pacoriestra.comFlew direct from Dallas to Buenos Aires and then to Cordoba. Burned nearly two cases every hunt. Two hunts a day. Use their guns as you will wear them out. Had to swap out new Berettas about every hunt as the O-rings metlted. Take good shooting glasses, hearing protection, golf gloves (left and right), good hat and sunscreen. Meals are fantastic. Incredible beef and wine. Most costly item is the shells. (where they make their money) For this trip, try and not worry about the cost; relax while you are there and soak it all in. Go ahead and pay for the personal DVD. Still watch it today and get chills. Awsome. Definitly a bucket list check-off. An amazing trip.

Canada ducks and geese is a great trip also but keep in mind it's still duck hunting. Hunts there are only as good as your guides scouting efforts and even then the weather . . driving rain, no wind, to much wind, etc can still mess things up . . even in Canada.
From what i saw and have heard from others, the Argentina dove hunting is alot more dependable. Havent heard of a bad Argentina dove hunt.
Been on some not so great Canada hunts.

Some things I'd check out:
1. Shells. Some outfitters run "specials" with "first 1000rnds free", etc. I would plan to shoot an average of 20 boxes per hunt. Calculate the total cost of shells you will pay with each outfitter. 2. Guns. What is the rental rate? Replacement guns when you melt the first one? Are 20ga available (my preference for down there)? 3. Location. What is the transportation cost and how will you get to each the lodges you are considering? Air transfers? Does the outfitter pick you up? Six hour bus ride? etc. 4. Accomodations. Does the outfitter have a resident chef and maid service? How does the lodge look? What are the sleeping arrangements - bunk house for six guys or private air-conditioned rooms? 5. Hunt location. Will you be hunting within 30 minutes of the lodge or 2hrs ? 6. Bird boys. Will each hunter have his own assigned bird boy(s)? 7. "Other" charges. Gotta love it . . those added in little charges that you dont find out about until checkout time.

Also check to see how far the hunting is from the lodge.
Some places you will drive an hour or more to the fields, eat lunch and take siesta in the fields between hunts. Can make for a long day.
Other places the hunting is minutes from the lodge or on the same property as the lodge. Much more convenient.
We went to Los Chanares a couple of years ago and it was phenomenal!
Overall, an Argentina dove hunt is worth it and is something I will do again when my son is old enough to go.

Just wish you could bring birds back to the US with you; one outfitter said Yes, the others said No.
Saving and spending that kind of money, I would definitely would want to bring an ice chest of birds back to enjoy throughout the year.

The group I went with had been once prior. The lodge is only a couple miles from the fields you will be hunting. Mr. Sier owns the roost and you hunt according to the wind. The lodge is extremely nice and the food was outstanding. Everything is negotiable. Our package included 2500 shells and I bought more at $11 per box. You can shoot as many shells as your pocket book can cash. They do offer combo hunts with either red stag or ducks.
