I'm about to build some "pimped out" duck blinds at the ranch, looking like 20'x8, with boat going under it out in one of our large shallow lakes. I need some cool ideas, what ya'll got???

We built a few down on the cost like that. It depends on the boat but for a jon boat or really anything that doesn't have a center console you do something like this...

I will do my best to explain. The blind width was about two boat stalls. The parking spot for the boat was actually under the raised shooting platform. The platform itself lifted up on hendges in three "doors". So yes the platform was raised, but no more than a normal step height.

This will be told from the view point as you are pulling into the boat slip. The doors are "open" and to your left, to your right is your second boat stall width that is fully enclosed, decked, and roofed. So as you pull in everyone steps out to the right where the deck is your normal dock height. You lower the "doors" which reach across the boat slip and to the decking you are on standing on The doors had 2x6 borders so the deck side of the doors was a normal height step up form the deck you are standing on. Thus creating a raised deck over the boat. The roof slanted up from back of the blind toward the shooting platform and above the shooting platform was cut short to allow you to stand open and free to move.

The back of the blind, roofed and enclosed, had a couch and kitchen area. So as the action got slow you could step down off the shooting deck under the roof and cook breakfast as well as sit on the couch. And you had access to the boat just by lifting one of the doors and leaving everyone else on the shooting deck as they were.

That's the slickest settup I've been in and it kept the surface area and actual materials needed for the blind down to a minimum.
