This can go many ways. The two that come to mind is the TC and the Ruger Blackhawk. The TC is very neat simply because of it's versatility with barrel swapping, and the ease of optic mounting. Plus a wide array of calibers to choose from. The blackhawk by Ruger chambered in .357 mag or .44 mag can be devastating with proper bullet placement. And they can accept optics as well.
Really depends on what you game of choice is.
And don't forget S&W they also have a great selection of revolvers that make acceptable hunting equipment.

Medium Game, Remington Xp-100 was chambered in many popular Rifle hunting calibers in addition its a bolt action so you can have more rounds if you needed them, they where accurate and easy to mount optics to. TC was probably little better suited as it has more variety of chamberings and pistol hunting is like bow hunting you learn to make the first shot count so the idea of having more rounds is kinda not really needed unless going after Dangerous Game Animals.
Samll Game, Ruger Single Six .22wmr works very well.
Dangerous Game, Ruger Super Redhawk in .454 casull

I have owned several T/C Contenders and if I were serious about handgun hunting, that's what I'd have. Chambered in an intermediate cartridge (7/08, .308, .30-30) they are very manageable and will maintain enough energy to kill cleanly father than you and I are capable of accurately shooting.
For something that is a tad easier to carry and gives you the option of follow up shots, the Ruger Blackhawk is my choice. The grip shape allows you to shoot big bore cartridges more comfortably than a double action grip like the S&W or Redhawk. The large spur at the top eats the web of your hand after a while. If you're hunting in Texas exclusively (whitetail, hogs, mulies), I'd go with a 7.5" Blackhawk in .44 Mag. Iron sights or scope is really your choice, just learn what your max effective range is (how far can you keep all of your shots in a 6" group) and hunt within it.

I hunt with several different ones. Contender in 7-30 waters is my go to gun for pistol hunting. It is accueate and with a good rest 200yards is not out of the question. The next most hsdd is a smith and wesson 629 from the performance center.

I have seen the S&W 460 put down deer at over 120yds, that's pretty good for a pistol.

I have been a handgun hunter for over 30 years. I hunt with several different 44 magnums, S&W 629, Ruger Super Blackhawk etc., 2 different 454 Casulls both Freedom Arms Premier Grade and a S&W 460 XVR. Some are open sighted and some are scoped. As far as revolvers go, I give the nod to the S&W 460XVR with scope. It has plenty of power, excellent ballistics for a handgun and extremely accurate.
If I want a really long range handgun, I like the TC Encore in 30-06 with 3x7 variable scope. It works great for me!!

I've been hunting with a T/C Contender since 1980. I also now use an Encore. I can install a barrel in any calliber from 22LR to 45-70 depending on what I'm hunting and the area or just going to the range. 14" barrels (for me) work best. All mine have scopes. 4x is really all you need.

I use a S&W 57 chambered in .41 Remington Magnum, not as potent as the 44 or its bigger brothers but I like it a lot. Ironically I've only shot a few turtles and a coon for clean kills, I shot at a water snake but missed by about 1/2" and the precussion killed him.

I got several, but my favorite is Blackhawk Bisley in .45colt with 7 1/2" barrel, open sights. heckuva challenge akin to bowhunting I guess, with hot loads it will surpass a .44 mag. I just like the look and feel of the old Peacemaker type pistols.

Smith 686 because it's got a great trigger and .357 is more than enough for medium sized game

I hunted most of last year with my Ruger SBH 7.5 with a Burris scope, 250gr hard cast lead. Shoots well, and works on the pigges.
