"If you don't have time to scout then you should not be hunting until you have time to scout first."

I don't think that is right at all. Yes you can still hunt but don't expect a lot. then again a blind hog finds a nut sometimes.

how about if you don't have anything constructive to say to help the guy keep your comments to yourself...i don't recall him asking for any specific coordinates and he might have certain circumstances that keep him from being able to get out that often...so lay off...

Well I have had some issues this year wife had surgery twice, broke a bone in my foot, motor quit running on boat but I did get to scout a little about a month ago. As for the criticism I have received I told someone last night that I guess I am a little niave when it comes to posting on forums. I forget there are people out there looking to take advantage of honest people giving advice and helpful info on a sport they love. I learned from this and won't make same mistake again. I hope everybody has a great opener

There are plenty of ducks south of the dam. I grew up 7 miles down river from the dam. It is getting very populated now and you can only get in at a couple of places. Luckily my parents still own a house right off of the FM 2114 bridge with a nice paved boat ramp. There is also a county road near by if you know where to look.

ain't about being a tough guy...just why can't you give constructive advice instead of criticism...

Cause we don't have to that is why. What are you doing getting on here and calling people out forgiving the advise that pretty much 95% of us would have said if we seen this first. If you don't have time to scout then you should not be hunting until you have time to scout first.

no you don't have to...i don't guess you have to act like a grown up either...but, then again maybe you just weren't taught manners as a child...and not having time to scout does not take away from a persons love or passion of duck hunting or anything for that matter...but hey to each his own, may everyone have a good opening morning and i hope you all limit out...i will be there for the start of the second phase without doing any scouting because i am in the military and won't be able to...maybe i just shouldnt be huntin' then...

If you have a valid excuse for not being able to scout why not ask to hunt with someone until you catch on. Hire a guide. I wouldn't mind taking folks out if you're ever in my neck of the woods. But even with a valid excuse it doesn't give someone the right to ask where everyone hunts and expect serious answers. Being a free country, you don't have to scout, you can ask all the questions you want on here and hunt like a true barney, but on the other hand, we don't have to help and we can respond in any fashion that our character and morals dictate. Personally, if you have time to post on here you have time to scout.

Instead of redneck or hillbilly. I prefer to be called an "Appalachian-American."

So let me see if I got this right. If I have time to read this forum then I should have time to scout. Well since the only time I get on this forum is usually after 8:00p.m. Then I guess I should go get in my truck and go sit somewhere I want to scout and take my flashlight and see if I can see anything.

Again as I stated before I was new to the forum and didn't realize that question was taboo. I was in no way trying to take someones spot. I have a certain place I hunt down there. I have enjoyed the banter on this it just shows me that guys on here are passionate about waterfowl hunting.

It seems like some folks are a tad bit touchy when it comes to some questions that get asked. If you don't like the question why let it bother you, just move on.There is too many more important things to worry about.By the way I've always been confused by what a barney is.Is it someone that is just not an expert like some on here?

barney has nothing to do with level of expertise...it could best be described as a person that is not considerate of others.

setting up 50 yards away from your spread, sky blasting ducks that are working your decoys....stuff like that

Attention rickym, this is not a troll post, just a good hearted fun type of post

Actually you should be scouting on your days off PRIOR to season and then after the day's hunt....but I don't know what the hail I am doing so don't listen to me....

BTW...a spotlight works better for scouting at night than a flashlight.

That is when I usually scout. I am off tomorrow so I will be scouting. Gonna try out my new boat motor. I just thought maybe I was doing something wrong and since I get on the forum at night maybe I was missing some good scouting time. As far as the spotlight vs. flashlight goes I figured I would be nice and not start another war

I don't see anything wrong at all with Duke's question. He is only asking if anybody has seen any ducks in this area.
