No its more like saying that a hammer is impractical for driving a nail.

But a nail gun is quicker so neither the hammer or Sledge is practical.

What is impractical about a firearm that is deadly accurate, impervious to weather, egronomic as heck, and fun to shoot to boot?

Im not trying to argue. I just want to understand other people's logic.

And Im sure that no one would consider an AR to be the "sledgehammer" of the gun world.

Regardless, it is an issue of preference. Some people like to cook burgers in a pan, some in an oven, on charcoal, or using a gas grill. No matter which way you go, you can still make a damn tasty burger.

Nothing at all impractical about it. Its a very versatile weapon. Great for home defense, varmints, predators, and wiping out a group of hogs.

im all about using the right tool for the job, so far ive never needed a 30 round clip for hunting a deer or hog, hell im only alowed 5 deer a year, a full clip would last me 5 years thats if i took my 5 a year..
AR's are about image, i guarantee it.

An AR is functional and practical as a military rifle in stock form. I could care less about what the "40hr a week normal job commando's" do with AR's.

Playboy is a JOKE! Canceled my subscription because it was 90% advertising! They did send me a good DVD though.

So how do you feel about simi-auto shotguns?

Well it comes to preference then, not practicality if you want to get technical. For me, a bolt action is not practical when I come upon a herd of hogs and my job is to eradicate them. It's also not practical for me to duct tape a flashlight onto a rifle when I can just snap one on my AR for hunting hogs at night.

JCB was just trying to correct your term usage; this will help:

Anti-gunner's often misuse the term "clip", which frustrates many of us.

The practicality argument is offensive since groups such as the brady campaign try to use that same argument to say that we do not need any semi-autos because they are "not practical for hunting or sporting". I don't think you meant it, but we all must be careful not to throw anyone under the bus--I guarantee you they will be coming after your bolt and pump actions as soon as they take away our semi-autos. So kindly consider us your "buffer" if nothing else and let's agree that for many applications (maybe not yours in particular since you only hunt deer, but Ours), an AR is indeed practical for hunting.

How's is not practical? AR's shoot very accurate and are reliable. Other rifles shoot very accurate and are reliable. Is it because they look different? Just food for thought as I really could care less what you have to say about anything involving hunting and guns.

This is why no one cares about what you have to say. Well that and the vid you posted once of an "effective" hog kill with a .22 hornet that really showed a hog writhing in pain for a couple minutes.

ive always called it a clip and probably always will, since the days of my marlin .22 back in the '70s its been know as a clip, didnt know it bothered you guys so much, kinda assinine if you ask me. But ill try. I do call them tactical rifles and not assualt rifles however.
And I firmly believe in the right to use them, even if its just against tyranny, which what the 2nd is all about, nothing in the 2nd about hunting.

True. But the Henry was a military or "Tactical" weapon. The Army Colt was a Military or "Tactical" weapon. The Springfield 03 was a military or "Tactical" weapon. I don't here anyone saying "Those don't belong in my arsenal" to any of those. It's progress is all it is. Every advancement to "Hunting Weapons" came from "Military Weapons" throughout history. Most all modern bolt action rifles are based off of the Mauser 98K which was...............?

I don't see the difference my self. I see advancement as a good thing, do you not?

And it's fine by me if you call a magazine a "clip", that's not what I was talking about.
