Anybody else out there feel the same way? I had one for a few months and ended up trading it away. I think about the only way id want one was if it had night vision and a silencer, but i cant see spending that much on a gun that id use for varmints.

I doubt it, but I personally love ARs.

I hate Auto Registration to it makes me mad, all those lines, this form, that form, take a bad picture, I could go on and on.

Ar 15s are my least favorite rifle and wouldnt own one if you paid me...

There is no application that a semi auto would come in handy !!

Don't care for them much either. I like bolt actions and lever actions, just kinda traditional in my taste of firearms.

But I do love the fact that we can own them!

They can be pretty expensive but I traded an ipod for a lower and spent $692 on an upper so mine wasn't that expensive. I wouldn't have gotten one if it cost much more but it's a nice luxury item and if I ever decide to sell it for something else I have plenty of people with dibs on it. My only problems are from user errors, the gun can definitely out shoot me but I just wobble so much when I try to free shoot vs using a tree, crutch or whatever I can find to try to support it some, its just a little different than what I'm used to but different can be good. They're definitely a good match rifle and have a certain cool factor to them. Personally I kind of like having guns for a while, tricking them out then seeing what their full potential is and after a while I'll decide whether or not to trade for something new and different. I loved my AK but ammo was fairly inconsistent, the gas system was a bit of a pain to clean after long periods of shooting, and the potential just wasn't quite there. My AR is getting there, I just need a good optic and I need to balance it a big better but it definitely has potential. I enjoy how versatile the system is as far as changing uppers and such.
This is coming from a newbie who just got his AR finished less than 2 weeks ago, your experience may vary.

i wish savage would start making them. They would be a kia in the ar market, but they sure would be cheap.

The prices on them have gone down quite a bit, they cost almost as much as you'd pay for any decent quality bolt action.

I just can't get into them for hunting purposes. Every gun I have is for hunting, not tacti-cool reasons. I love watching the 300 pound guys on tv talk about battle field tactics and using AR's. They couldn't sprint 100 yards to save their life, but they can "tactical waddle" to "defensive positions".

WOW, I am actually in agreement with mustafa on something. We have small land we own and big land we lease. I have never felt the need to have anything more than bolt rifles on either. I had a couple of SKS's and granted they ain't AR's but what's the point? I like to shoot but I guess in my case I like to do it VERY accurately and one bullet at a time. But I do like that we can own, trade, buy AR's if we choose

Your not alone, it's not that I don't like them it's just I have no use for them. Several years ago I had a Bushmaster and eneded up giving it away, now I have a LR308 and it just sit's in the safe. I got it for hog control but in 2 outing's we no longer have a hog problem so the 308 is out and the 243 is back to riding in the truck. Plus I hated brass flying all over the inside of the truck. The LR308 will be up for sale or trade soon.

Some love them and some hate them. But I cant think of another gun out there that I would rather have in my hand in a SHTF senerio.
