Posting this up for my buddy Rodney as he lost his old huntin companion Sallysue today as she just got to old .

I will lend to you for awhile
a puppy, God said,
For you to love him while he lives
and to mourn for him when he is dead.

Maybe for twelve or fourteen years,

It is a sad day for sure! The loss of a great dog is hard. She gave you many great days in the field, and that is where the memories and thoughts should focus.

Just to add a little something, I've had a ton of dogs in my life so far and every time I loose one its just as hard gettin' over them. I swear I'm never going to get attached to one again but God put them here for us to love and care for. I know your pain.

Sorry I missed this Sallysue...looks like she was a great dog and companion. I'm sorry! They sure don't last long enough and like Cappy says maybe it is because God wants us to experience and have that bond with more than one of them.
