Anyone ever used their service?

I have done a lot of research and haven't found anything negative so far. I had the chance to meet him and he is a very nice guy. He and his wife are both fire fighters and do a lot of volunteer work with lab rescues organizations.

My only concern is he is not a "high dollar" field trial trainer who puts out MH's year after year. He mostly takes low pedigree dogs and turns them into finished hunting dogs. (This is actually what i liked best about him) However, he does run AKC but I think with only a few years experience.

My pup is FC x FC bred and I just want to make sure that the trainer is going to get his full potential out of him. The breeder I got him from recommended a few well-known field trial trainers and I honestly didn't like what these guys had to say and it just seemed like "all business" to them.

When I talked to Justin Drake, it was a much better conversation and he just seemed to have a passion for labs and really enjoyed what he did. And again, I was really impressed with what he has done with (in his words) "craigslist labs" who don't have as strong natural instincts. I am just a little cautious about my pup being the guinea pig for his field trial career.

I am supposed to drop my dog off in a few weeks any feedback would be appreciated!

Depends on a lot I guess. Sounds like he would be a good trainer although I don't speak from experience.

I don't knw any of the details for price, etc. but here is my .02

If you want a good hunting dog, go for it, but if you are looking for a dog with a future with a lot of blue ribbons to brag about and price isn't an obstacle go elsewhere.

By no means am I an expert, but I would assume at least one craigslist dog could eventually be a MH with the right trainer.

If it was up to me, I would rather take my chances and go with a nice guy that can produce hunting dogs like him, rather than a full time trainer for a lot more money.

I'd go with Rody Best of Best retrievers. He always produces some of the best hunting dogs and hunt test dogs out there. His dogs obedience always looks the best at every hunt test I have seen him run.

Water Oak Retrievers check them out, good people and great trainer. Where I sent my dog, wouldn't send him anywhere else.
