I am looking for some bocat hunting tips.
All I have ever heard is; mid morning using a woodpecker call with a bird's wing hanging from a string and blowing in the breeze. Is that a good method?
How do ya'll do it?

I just sit in the stand deer hunting and when a bobcat eventually walks by I blow them away!

Bird and rabbit sounds both work well. The majority of our hunting takes place at night which allows for alot of encounters throughout the year. Your odds will increase tremendously at night yet you will still want to set up in certain areas to give yourself the best odds. Mainy just getting close to a cat is the most important step before anything else. Your area around the colony should have quite a few creek bottoms near more open feilds. Cats in these types of areas are usualy pretty easy targets and wont hesitate to come to a call, especialy at night. Call fairly close to the brush (75 to 150) yards and dont force them to cover a large distance to get to you. Every situation and animal is different but they are usualy patternable if you hunt consistantly in certain areas. Hope this helps a little.

I have only bagged two bobcats in my months of predator hunting & I was thinking coyote both times. They like the higher piched sounds. Bird, rodent & cottontail! They tend to be a bit more patient then coyotes so you may have to let a coyote walk to wait on the cat! Or just take the coyote & say thats what you were caling! The can sit and watch the scene for a long time before coming in. Like the other post said, try not to make them get to far from cover. I would be willing to guess that the majority of bobcats were shot while deer hunting like the other guy mentioned! Deer season is bobcat season at my local taxi!

Thanks ya'll.
Since there isn't a big population of bob cats in the area I hunt it sounds like patience is the watch word.
