Hello everyone,
I recently bought a S&W M&P15 Sport AR-15. I really like the gun and I am excited about the options I have with it.
I am wanting to put a holographic sight but my barrel sight post is in the way. How do I take it off? AND if I take it off, how do I keep the fore-arm on? It looks to me like the sight and the ring that the fore-arm sets in is all one piece.
Maybe there is a riser or something?...
What would ya'll recommend I do?
Thank ya in advance.

The front sight will not bother you at all with a holo sight. A high magnification scope can be a problem though.

If you do take it off you will have to replace it with a gas block of some sort. That front sight base is part of the gas system that operates your action.
And that ring that holds your hangaurd in place is a seperate piece from your front sight base.

Thanks guys...
I was thinking it may be part of the gas block system, but I wasn't sure.

You also have another problem. The rear sight is not the foldable Troy and that's your real problem. To mount an EOTec or any other reflex/holo/ red dot you'll need to remove it and replace it with a foldable rear BUIS. The EO won't need anything. The Magpul is cheaper and acceptable. If you want something else you'll need a riser. The Sport is a cheap weapon and putting an EOTech on it is not really cost effective. My suggestion is remove the rear sight and put a Magpul Gen 2 folder on. Then go the Burris Web sight and get one of their scope mounts and scopes. You can also mount a their 4 power AR scope as well as a reflex sight on top of the mount. It's a poor mans Trijicon.

Like OldTown said , once you get use to it it really isnt that big of a deal ! If it really bothers you you can always replace that FSP with some type of low pro gas block or flip up front sight ! On a couple of mine that I use a red dot with I like to have teh FSP and a rear BUIS in case the optic fails or if I just want to shoot with iron sights !
