My buddy killed a hog this weekend that had two huge abscess on it rear end. It literally looked like it had a Baboon butt. My buddy cut one open and I saw one of the most disgusting sights of my life. This stuff starting oozing out. It looked like yellow cottage cheese mixed with curdled milk and yougurt. I don't gag easy and I almost lost my breakfast.

Have any of guys ever seen anything like that on a hog? We thought maybe he got bit by a rattle snake or got got shot. It still gives me the willies when I think about it.

Did the health impector say what it could be? We just threw the meat out, did not think it was worth the risk.

In HS I raised a couple pigs and I had one, literally push his insides out.
Pigs eat any and everything, and sometimes they push and contract so hard they will push everything out.

Is this what happened?

Sounds like an abcessed wound. Shot a hog with a similar injury. Had been butt shot by another hunter a few weeks earlier. Just dumped the whole carcass.

To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target.

In post #34, Flintknapper has some nasty pics of an abscess of a young boar that turned out to contain a .22 slug.

Based on his experience, I won't be cutting into any such structures on any hog I down. andyj9881's experience helps drive that point home.

Sounds like an infection for sure, but could also have been a lipoma or other build up.

Its an abcess (spelling?), we get these on about one or two of our cows every now and then, and basically its like a large zit. It really doesnt affect them if you drain it, obviously its gonna be sore like a pimple or zit. And im 99% sure it wont affect the meat but hey better safe than sorry on that one cause you never know what kind of infection could be in there. Pretty dang nasty though
