I'm still having trouble with my Roamainina underfolder WASR 10 AK. Got it thru Classic Arms. Can't figure out why it is still jamming as the shell is going into the chamber. I've oiled and even filed some tight spots( or at least what i think are tight)out. Does anyone know a good gun smith or someone that has fooled around with AK's near Ennis Texas? If I hold the mag back while shooting it never misses a beat but let it go and it jams every single shot. Thanks for any help.

If so take a spent case and drop it int the chamber. start bulling back slowly and see if it ejects. If it does cycle by hand the problem is in the gas system most likely. Look at the end of the piston for damage.

The shell point hits the top left side of the chamber and jams going in. The bolt actually stops and never gets the shell into the chamber. I then have to pull back on the bolt and sometimes it'll go right in but most of the time I have to dump that shell and try again. If I pull back and up on the mag (I have three metal and one tpaco plastic)it will shoot and never jam. Otherwise it jams on all four mags.

Oh sorry i read the OP more closely. Sounds like a mag or mag release problem. does the mag rock back and forth?

So you think the mag release is too low and is'nt holding the mag up in the reciever good enough. Should I drill and re rivet or add metal to the release? I'm not much on gun smithing but I'm ready to try anything

take out the mag and measure the distance from the bottom of the mag catch to the top of that plate that is between the mag catch and the receiver.

Thanks for your input. I'll see if I can find a gun smith around these parts to look into it. Thanks again

Will do. Thanks I'm at work so it'll have to wait till tomorrow. If its too much how would you go about fixing the problem?

I think I'll look for another release. If its a little longer I can drill and rivet it in and file it to fit tighter. Or find a gunsmith with the right tools and know how.

Its alot cheaper to just replace the mag catch yourself.

Have you tried several different mags first, before making mods to the gun. The mag catch could be positioned incorrectly but you could also just have a bad mag if you haven't tried several.
