Hi Fellas, I was just wondering what type of range some of the new muzzleloaders have?

I don't have a problem at 100 yards. There are probably models out there that may 150 to 200 yards.

I shoot a Knight Revolution topped witht a Leupold Ultimate Slam. My first kill with it was a pig at 196 yards. This year I took a big 11 point at 85 yards.
That's shooting a 300 grain Hornady SST Sabot pushed by 150 grains of 777.
Two years from now I will take it to Africa with me.

Thanks for the info guys. As you I know, I'm a PH in South Africa, and have a hunt lined up for Muzzleloader. It will be the first time that I have a muzzleloader hunt, and as muzzleloader hunting is really not that big here,I was just curious of what I need to prepare myself for regarding ranges. Many thanks for your input.
Best Regards Marius Goosen

Best Regards Marius Goosen Let us know how it turns out. I would think that your hunter should have any problem out to 200 yards as long as he/she are shooting a good muzzleloader.

If everything goes well and he decides to hunt with us, I will be posting the pics up here. You can be sure of that. Really hope that it comes through, I will admit that it will be a new experience to me. Really excited about it. Muzzleloaders, here in Africa are around, but definately not as big as in the USA, so we dont get exposed to that type of hunting a lot. But as I said , it is always nice when something like this comes along, just to spice it up.
Best Regards Marius Goosen

KMG Hunting Safaris, it has a whole lot to do with what he'll be shooting animal wise. There's no problem reaching out and touching an animal at 200-250 yards, dropping it is something else as you know with any centerfire.
What we do in life, echoes in eternity.

We shoot CVA Accura's, 100 grain of white hots, and .245 grain power belt sabots. We are topped with HAWKE optics BP rifle scopes and are good out to 225 yards.

I bought my first muzzleoader 2 years ago, muzzleloaders are not very popular in S Texas where I hunt so I'm just getting into it. I only use it when I go to Nebraska at Christmas time and get a 3 day muzzleloader permit for whitetails. I purchased a Remington Genesis shooting 285 grain Barnes spitzer boattail hollowpoints with 100 grains Pyrodex pellets/open sights. I pulled it out of the box & didn't even have a chance to shoot it before the hunt. First morning of the hunt/first time fired/I downed a big fat Nebraska doe. Hit exactly where I was aiming at 70 yrds. That solid copper hollowpoint sabot from Barnes blew one HECK of a hole in her! Last year, I missed my only oportunity for a Husker deer. Attempted a 100 yrd off knee shot & flat out missed. I believe I'll be putting a scope on it this summer.....supposed to be able to putem' down up to 200 yrds from what I read, I'm not that confident with it yet. Smokepoles are fun though!
