Actually raising them, at least the two humped type might make sense. You can shear them for camel hair which has a nice market. They take less care than a cow and can take any kind of weather which will kill a horse. They don't need special feed. They can easily carry twice the load of a horse and live twice as long. Besides no one else will have one.

Haven't had camel but did try some yak a few years ago. I'd definitely try it. Can't be any worse than goat.

Haha one of my good friends is half Palestinian and his mom has a tapestry in the kitchen for stuffed camel. It was a running joke whenever we had parties there in high school to get girls to believe that Nabil's mom cooked us stuffed camel every Thanksgiving. The recipe actually sounded pretty good. I would try it...

They cooked one on at TV cooking show several months back. I think it was Anthony Bourdain. He said it was pretty good. It was a young camel. It's apparently a common food in Saudi and the middle east.

Man they stink worse than hogs....... in Iraq we could smell them coming for days before they got to our AO to eat all the spring grasses........... but if they taste as good as hogs..... I am in.....
