how dumb do they think we are? some shows "act" it better than others, but turns me off every time they recreate the money shot filming from outside blind. half the time shooter is acting so bad he isn't nervous at all and ends it with "wow, I just shot a big deer!".

talking with my Kansas outfitter last year he said one TV show was hunting archery in shorts and tennis shoes for the actual kill, then went out the next day and "acted" the kill shot with all their camo sponsor clothes and scent spray.

Welcome to the world of big money tv sponsors, selling their products to all the gullible hunters out there.

The majority of the stuff out there now isn't needed, and never has been, but yet people have to have all the latest toys and dress the part or they don't think they are hunting.

I love it when the bolt is OPEN during the shot.

Used to have a bunch of "errors" on our DVR. Upgraded to HiDef and lost them.

Got all over Dave Matthews one time because he said on the show everything is real just the way it happened. Too bad I posted video....ON HIS SITE...that showed the bolt open during the shot!!!

The shot that always bugged me was when they film themselves walking up to the kill. The camera person is on opposite side of dead animal and they are acting like it is first time seeing animal. Some of the b.s. that is passed off is crazy.

Hunting shows are no different than porn. It never happens that way in real life...

I do like Keith Warren and Brian Quaca. Those two shows are the only ones I watch.

The Pig Hunter? I think that Pig hunter dude is annoying.

It took us 5 hours to shoot a 1 minute commercial once...and it was a truck commercial.
I think some of it is for dramatic effect, but I bet some of it is to circumvent Murphy's Law...

I remember watching a hunting show a couple years ago where the guy fired his weapon and had, literally, no recoil. He cycled his bolt and nothing came out, then he closed the bolt and fired a 2nd time. Again, he cycled the bolt and nothing came out. Both times he "fired" his rifle, there was a gunshot dubbed in. How goofy are these people who edit some of these shows!?

I have seen some real winners in the past years...one that comes to mind is a hunt on the 777 where the huntress shots at a buck on a cloudy day that is clearly not the same buck they do the recovery with on a clear day..another is a noted outdoor show where the guy shots a buck that is a 9 point as a trophy then continues on with the show and shots an 8 point management buck then after a very long tracking job the fake the recovery with the same 9 points (can tell due to browtines) and the host is holding the deer by the beam with the G4 on it and has his hand over the G4...could post a couple pages on here is what I have seen....sad...I think the best over the shoulder show is Primos and BPS Real Hunting right now as both shows are filmed as they happen-hit, miss, wound or kill.

oh, here's another one that comes to mind. do you notice whether rifle or bow, all Deer fall dead within 50 yards. same line every time, "he just went down right there".

Couldnt agree more. The guy says "oh he just went down right there... didnt go 40 yards"

Then they wind up tracking for 5 minutes and sweat it while looking for the deer... but I thought you saw him go down!


I dont watch hunting or fishing shows anymore, would rather read the cabellas sale, it has less advertising and more pictures of deer!

The pig bomb show, swamp people, and river monsters are my favorite hunting and fishing shows! No comercials and they actualy go catch fish and shoot stuff... unlike fishing and hunting shows where they just try to dupe you into buying all their useless junk!

I don't watch them anymore. Most are just infomercials and 90% are staged. Got the outdoor channel and haven't watched it in probably a year.

Only hunting show worth watching is Lee & Tiffany, or should I just say... Tiffany. Who cares what she shoots or how it's doctored up.

How about some hunting shows that aren't 20 minute commercials? I'd pay to watch a show teaching me how to hunt, rather than, selling me a product

I really like reading all the post. It really helps me with knowing what the viewers are looking for. We try to keep as real as possible on Hunt Wicked Close TV. All though with out the aid of multipal cameras it is very hard to get the draw back of the bow and the kill shot all on one screen. We are workin on this for the new season and hopefully we will be able to make this happen for the viewers.

As far as the commercials, this is a dreaded evil that is a must... The air time cost are up in the 10's of thousands of dollars and if it were not for the sponsors ad's there would be no shows. I to get tired of seeing commercial after commercial but unfortunately they are a must to air the show.

We try to be as informative as we can possibly be on Hunt Wicked Close TV. We try to have as many Tech Tips as we can get into the show schedule. Sometimes it is about odor elimination and other times it is about traveling to africa and what you will need to know to make your trip easier. We have several new tech tips for this season, some dealing with long range shooting to tips about archery.

We always have room for improvement and when the viewers talk we listen... unless its PETA and then we hit the delete button in a very nice way after we offer them some back strap and a free bottle of BioExtreme..

Keep talking about what you like and dislike believe it or not it helps us make a better show for the viewers..

Hunt Wicked Close TV

All TV shows are full of this junk. I do not watch much TV but when I do I watch hunting shows. I would rather watch doctored hunts than dancing with the stars...

I use to watch the fishing shows a lot. In Fisherman is the best one to me. Jimmy Houston and Bill Dance are good with the cut ups. The problem with the bass fishing shows is anyone who bass fishes knows that 90% of the time the fishing is nothing like they present. The other issue I have is I hate Bass Masters. Ray Scott is the biggest jerk around along with most of the other ones. Hunting wise I like Ted Nugent but rarely watch any of them any more. Most are just a bunch of rich dudes with nothing better to do.

I don't like to watch other people hunt, fish, golf or @#$%.
I do like to do all those things though.lol

If most of the TV hunting dudes and dudettes got in a stand with me and started that stupid obligitory obnoxious whispering ad nauseum while i'm trying to hunt, well, tree limb to the mouth comes to mind. unless of course it's Tiffany. which one of the blondes sounds like she's on helium? It's hilarious when it whispers. 28 minutes of constant ads with 1.5 minutes of that stupid whispering, 30 seconds to shoot something at the last minute of the last day of the hunt...there's more, but I'd rather get another martini than write...
