I always carry cocked with a round in the chamber... A 1911 has three safties, the thumb safety, the tang safety, and the trigger. Even with a round in the chamber you would have to disengage the safety, properly grip the pistol, and pull the trigger to discharge the weapon. Now carrying a revolver cocked it a whole different story.

Also 40 is a great round, easily swapped to 357 sig; 10 mm is a little hotter with good penetration which would be good on a pressured shot on a charging hog. 45 is a great standby and half the price to shoot.

I carry a judge. Loaded with one number 6, 2 00 buckshot, 2 corbon hot hand loads. I mostly hunt with a .444 Marlin rifle so the wheel gun doesn't get much use.

I carry 6" Dan Wesson .357 w/180 Buffalo Bore Hardcasts...I have killed several. No chase more than 150' and most less than
50. Two were DRT. I have larger bores but I like the weight and balance of this revolver.
