I have searched THF and TFF and cant find anywhere to ask about or talk about bow fishing! I noticed several areas on the FF specifically say "Do not post about bow fishing". Is there no place on here to talk about bow fishing or am i just missing it? Anyway... while on topic i am JUST NOW getting into bow fishing and have 2 questions. (#1)where can i find bow fishing equipment for a left handed shooter... I had no trouble finding the bow, its the reel im having difficulty with. I dont really want the "old school" bottle full of string that i have now and am more interested in something like the zebco 808. (#2) does anyone know anything about bow fishing on the colorado or llano river? I will be visiting my grandparents in a few weeks and they have property on the colorado right where it meets the llano and property in horseshoe bay... just looking for somewhere to go and possibly a guide or someone who knows where to go! Thanks for the help!

Check out AMS Bowfishing online, thats where I found and purchased all of my lefty rigs. AMS pro rig is about $120 but its worth every penny. Cant help with good fishing holes in that neck of the woods.

Posting about bowfishing in the rough fish section of TFF will get your post deleted. I know from experience.

go to bowfishingcountry.com, plenty to talk about and tons of info. I guide on lake livingston and the trinity and have the bowshop here in livingston. ams bottle reel is not old school!! a hand wind spool or coffee can is old school grin

Those tree huggers over there at TFF throw a fit when you mention bow fishing. It's funny. Please take pics nad post over there but please let all of us know in advance so we can be there before it gets deleted.

How could we get a bowfishing forum here on THF?
I think many would appreciate it...

I bought all my bowfishing bows (me, my Wife, and my Son) from pawn shops. We shoot recurves for several reasons. Two of them are Bears and one is an AMF. I didn't pay over $30 for any of them and have had them now for 20+ years.

None of them had threaded holes for the reel so I drilled/tapped a hole under the rest and epoxied a 5/8" long piece of 1/2"NC allthread into the hole after tapping the center of the allthread for the reel. It extends about 1/4" out of the riser so I can put a backer nut on it to prevent the reel from touching the bow. Literally thousands and thousands of shots between the three bows and no sign of any cracking or stress issues related to the stud.

Anyway, that's the way us rednecks do it. happy3
