I took one of my dogs out for a training session this morning on some land that borders a lake. At one point, when I was about 35 yards from the lake, I happened to spot a rather large snake. It wasn't moving at all, and the dog didn't see it, so I snapped a couple of pictures of it. Does it look like a Bull Snake to you guys? It was all of 5' long. I didn't get a picture of it's head because it had a lot of cover over top of it, but the head was not overly large. The one picture is from the middle of the body and the other is of the tail. Just curious what you guys think it is.

Good site for identifying snakes in Texas.

http://www.zo.utexas.edu/research/txherps/snakes/

A harmless one nonetheless.

In that picture it is a bad snake because it still has the capability to slither off and carry on a normal snake life.

I'm just wondering, but after the snake has been id'd as a rat snake which is correct, why is it id'd after that 30 different times?

I'd probably add coral snakes to that list. I wouldn't want one for a pet.

Good Hunting,
