I'll tell you the same thing I was told years ago. Find all the books you can on the subject and read and then read them again. Lymans, Hodgeon, Nosler, and Speer reloading manuals are just a few. Always stick to the books recomendations and if someone claims to use 69 grains of a certain powder with no problem just let them continue to do so, but again always stick to the book.

Here is a link with some good replies on how to learn: http://www.texashuntingforum.com/forum/u...ing#Post2237587If I was to start from scratch I would buy the RCBS Rock Chucker Kit and a tumbler kit that comes with the media separator. Id probably order the RCBS shellholder kit also. All this would cost around $400. The kit comes with one reloading manual, but you will probably pick another or three up if you start reloading. I use a variety of brands for reloading and I have no complaints with any of them. I recommend the RCBS kit because I am pleased with the performance and quality of my RCBS press, scale, and priming tool.

Thats enough difference to cause problems, like a shell that wont extract.

Published loads were developed and are safe in the guns those loads were developed in. That is the reason to start low and work up! The manuals will have cautions for lookign for pressure signs.

Read all you can and try to find someone that hand loads to coach you. RCBS, Dillon, Hornady, Redding, Lee all make good stuff. I use Lee, they make good stuff and are very reasonably priced.

I don't know where you are located, but I started reloading last year. I found it very beneficial, after reading 2 manuals repeatedly, to attend the weekend class at Cabela's. I found the hands on and visual portion of the class very valuable in getting me to understand. The classes are free and on Sunday I believe.

There's so much I don't know that I don't even know what I don't know.

www.midwayusa.com › ... › Presses Without Die Sets This with a loading tray, calipers, trickler, die set, case trimmer and bullet puller should get you started.
