I took the girls (all seven of 'em) out for a romp today. Tossed a bumper during a free-for-all and Rascal, being her usual self, had to get EVERY retrieve. She and Ricochet were in a dead heat, but Ricochet got there first... So Rascal, being a poor sport, shoves Ricochet under the water and steals the bumper from her... This unsportsman-like conduct won Rascal a 10 minute time-out tied to the penalty tree.... AND the wrath of Ricochet. Guess that's why they say "Payback's a beee-otch"!

Ouch! That last photo looks a little scary with them in the water.

Girls will be girls.
Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden. Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.

Ouch! That last photo looks a little scary with them in the water. I got scared when Rascal held Ricochet under the water. Both my daughter and I said "I'm fixin to jump in!" - just as Ricochet popped back up.... but ooooooohhhh she was MAD! She grabbed Rascal and let 'er have it, but it was quick. Think my son is the one who caught it on film. Think he said he took a video...

ok this may be a dumb question and statement, But I have to ask, could this lead to forming a bad habit? I dont mean to pick at all as I dont claim to be a true trainer or any kind but that pic dont seem OK to me.
I personally would'nt want my dog in that situation.
And for the record so no one misunderstands , I have heard good dogs coming out of this kennel and ISR posts good information so this IS NOT me questioning their tactics.

Just my opinion but if your dog is properly trained it will never be in that situation. If it honors another dogs retrieve in the field then there is no problem. This was just a case of two dogs(maybe Alpha's) letting each other know that it was uncalled for with the horse play.
The pics look like just a day of fun not actually retrieving drills. Just my opinion.

Outside of that little incident, which I found comical because I know both dogs, Ricochet and Rascal are great buddies. It was a 'play day' for the dogs - a break from the drills (for them AND for me!)

I understand and no offense taken, bud. If these were two dogs at work or in training, or if this was a repeat incident, then I'd have to agree - this would be much more concerning than comical. It was a good question - food for thought. I'd nip it in the bud if it weren't all in good fun or I'd intervene if I thought either dog were in danger of being harmed, but that wasn't the case in actuality. These two little ladies have a bit of a friendly rivalry between themselves, but they keep a lid on it when 'Mama's rules' are in affect.
