Finally went there to eat tonight (Coppell location). It is without question the best BBQ I have had in the metroplex (not saying much, but head and shoulders above anything else I have had since moving here 9 years ago). I had the brisket, some ribs, and the brush poppers. Fantastic. My brother shared a little of his pork chop dipped and it was fantastic. The only complaint I would have is the sauce was not very good in my opinion, but the meat is so good it doesn't even need sauce. I will be going back.

They still have free beer at the one in Stephenville? The BBQ was Fair-Good but the free beer sold me!

I was under impressed. Seemed like it cost my wife and I over $20 for decent bbq and not much on the side. Isn't far from our place and have never made the effort to go back.

Went today. Didn't know how to order and it came out expensive.
It was fair. I will go back again and try it one more time to be sure.
What is the "dipped" sauce

Cool name and I guess that's what brings the customers in. The one in Brady sucks. Much better "Q" at Mac's.

Get the Pork Chop and have it dipped, pure heavan. The ribs are fair, the brisket good to bad, the sirloin dipped is amazing. If you get any poppers make sure they are not old and dried out. If you know what to get Hard 8 is pretty durn good. The nanner pudding is some mean stuff. I have been to the one in Brady about 50 times, I would say it is 50/50 on the quality. If the kids are out there running the pits turn around and leave if the old mexicans are out there stay. Mac's is pretty good too, however sometimes I just got to have that pork chop and some pudding.

Hard 8 seems like a rip-off of Cooper's down in Llano - not bad food though, but they sure don't give it away.

The one in Stephenville is great! The one in Brady is terribly managed and the food quality shows it.

Hard 8 is just like Cooper's BBQ; only the originals are worth a flip.
For a split second I thought that it may be just for the road trip aspect, but the Hard 8 in Brady is bad as is the Cooper's in Junction. Been to Cooper's (FTW) and Hard 8 in Coppell and they are sub-par as well.
It seems like management got greedy on both restaurants. Should have stuck with their original stores and kept their reputations from getting blasted due to bad experiences at the satellite stores.

It's overpriced and overrated. I've heard the other locations are good but personally I think Hard 8 in Coppell is highly overrated. +1

I was hoping to keep Mac's a secret!! I have been eating there for over 25 years and think its one of the best in central Texas! Never been a hard 8 fan, have tried it several times in ville and Brady (only cuz Mac's was closed). Another real good Que place is Big O's over at Valera.

Great place and great folks at the Hard 8, can't say the same for Mac's. By the way get the cornbread mix for the beans!!!!!!!!! Prime rib and st louis ribs are kick butt as well!

My cousin, well cousin by marriage, is the manager at the Coppell location. I've never eaten at that location but my parents go with other family members and enjoy the free...and as mentioned it's good for DFW.
I frequent the Stephenville location. It's hit and miss...but probably because of the hours im there. At 11am it's amazing. At 10pm its not so great. I even dated a girl that worked at Hard 8 in Stephenville....have the free shirts to prove it! lol

Tried the one in Stephenville with two of my kiddos on the way to the lease a few years back. We all came away totally unimpressed. Way too much fat on the ribs and briskit and felt like the only thing we ate was sides. Way too pricey for some fat and sides. I can name several chains that would blow them away.
Been a while though and I'd probably be willing to give them one more shot.

I have ate at Hard 8 most like over 50 times and never had the brisket or the ribs. Pork Chop or tenderloin for me. I have discovered if you go during off times, no prime time meal time their quality slips.
