Anyone have any contacts around the coleman or ballinger area for quail leases? Looking to possibly pick up a spot for next season.

There haven't been any birds around Coleman for 3 to 4 years.May be some sort of disease. They are having trouble with the turkey population also.

Contact the Ford Ranch west of brady. They have a website. They lease for after deer season for $1 an acre.

I've got Turkey and Quail out the wazoo halfway between Ballinger and Talpa. LOTS of birds! where did you get your info?

I got on a place south of Coleman. The first day we looked at the place we saw 50+ turkey within a couple of miles of the place. We also moved a good sized covey within the first 2 hours.

Can't wait to see what this season turns out like. Praying for timely rains. Good lock finding a place.

I'm referng to north Coleman county. Out Hwy 283 and out 83/84. That's a long way from Ballinger.

Bill,
I called the Ford ranch last season and they said they were not hunting quail OR turkeys, due to low populations and poor hatches.

68, I can testify there aren't any quail in the area you are talking of. Yeah, theres a few here and there. Turkeys ....lots of jakes. Maybe next year on the more adult birds. As long as this drought persists the quail are going to suffer. They have very little habitat. These are my findings on a 14,000 ac. ranch on 283 and our place on 84.

I hunted a day lease around ballinger and moved 10 coveys in a day. There are birds there you just have to find the right places.
