Are either the Moore Planatation, or Alabama Creek WMA's any good for hog hunting? I live in Dallas, and I would hate to drive out to either one only to find that these are not good places for hog hunting. Thanks.

HEB: One thing you might want to do is call the resident biologists; I did this when I headed out to White Oak Creek last month and it helped tremendously. On my second outing, I shot a couple of pigs out of the 10 I saw that day. I wouldn't have even been in that particular area had I not spoken with the biologist there. Here's a good link for the phone numbers: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/huntwild/hunt/wma/find_a_wma/I plan to head out to Alabama Creek soon, so I'll be watching this thread to see what others say. BTW, I was at Big Lake Bottom between Fairfield and Palestine last Saturday. Lots of sign down there, but I didn't walk all the way to the Trinity (the WMA's southern border); I'm thinking they hide down there! Mike H.

Find your drainages...Moore Plantation and Bannister butts up to Sam Rayburn and has some really good creeks and streams running through both. Hogs are not going to be far from a water source since they don't have sweat glands and require water more often than other species daily.
Hard Pen Creek on Bannister is a good area...can't miss the hog sign and where you find new sign the hogs won't be far off.
I used to be over those 2 WMA's back in the early 90's.
