This is the first year I have gotten on a lease and I am really looking forward to a fun filled year of hog, racoon and hopefully even some bobcat hunting before the start of deer season. I set up my area about 2 months ago and have been back to check on things twice but have not been able to do any hunting. I have checked my camera and was pleased with that has been coming to my feeder from day 1. I thought I would share some shots. Deer started coming the first night but they have only come once in the morning. Will deer naturally staring coming to feeders in the early morning or early evening as the year goes on? Or am I stuck with a deer population that will only eat my corn in the middle of the night? There is a solo hog that comes to my feeder pretty regularly and also a young family. They don't come every night but are pretty regular. I just know that the night I go they will not show up. What works best to get them to come? There is a family of racoons that come pretty regularly as well. What will attract racoons best? I have heard sardines are a good choice. Also, is it possible to though out too much stuff and get stuck with no animal coming if I through corn for hog and sardines for the racoons? Lastly, I have only gotten two shots of a bobcat. I don't have a foxpro but is that any thing that I can do (withought buying a foxpro) to get them to come? Sorry for the long post. I am just getting really excited at the prospect of getting some of these animals and don't want to be left with nothing.

Nice pics and don't worry, if you have pigs today odds are you will have pigs tomorrow. They might change their feeding time or location a little but they will be close. Good luck!

Your deer herd will get used to the feeders going off and probably hit them several times a day. When they get used to the sound of the timer, they know it is bean time. I have had some regulars hit the feeders a little before the timer went off, I guess their watches were fast, and the timer go off right above their heads. Some trot off a few yards, some just duck their heads and keep eating.
People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf

Looks like you have a lot more than a solo hog at the feeder. Good ludk have some fun and go kill something.
If I'm not hunting something I must be dead.

So my hunting trip is this weekend. I am going to buy some hog wild to mix in with the corn to make sure I get some hog to show up and stick around for a while. However, I am still unsure about what to do for the racoons or the bobcat.
I read in an older post that sardines are a good bait for racoons. Has anyone used them before and succeeded?
My brother in law is a marine and was telling me that when he was at 29 palms they would put old rotting meat out in desert and wait for the coyote's to come and then they would light them up. Would something like this work on bobcats. I'm wondering if I should put out some rotting meet or maybe even the same sardines as for the racoons and see what happens.
What do you all think?
