I was at Lowe's today trying to describe what I was looking for and the guy that I was asking looked at me like I was asking for something that hasn't been invented yet..... I know it's out there, I've seen sliding blind windows set up with it. It's the aluminum channel that plexiglass can be mounted into, for the plexiglass to slide open. Here's a picture of what I have in my head ..... Looking down the length of it, looks like an "E" laying on it's back, the other pic would be looking down on it with the blue being the plexiglass to slide in the channels...... Am I totally nuts or is this stuff out there somewhere ?

Like you, I have seen it but I cant say as I have ever heard what it is called. It's like a double tracked channel. Im going to follow this one.

They usually have it the section where they sale plastic lattice. It is used as lattice trim. At the lowes where I live they have in the area you buy lumber...

You can get it at any glass and window repair shop. Use it a lot in doctors office where you sign in. Only thing is you have to use 1/4" glass, or that is the only size i have seen it.

I called a friend of mine that has used that stuff to build windows and he told me it is manufactured by Binswanger Glass. He is supposed to call me tomorrow with the part number.

jaymz, I think I got a link in a PM to the site that is apparently banned from here, good stuff just a little more money than I am wanting to spend though.....
kp143631, I found what you are talking about yesterday at Lowe's, it only has a single track though that's 1/4" wide, I'm looking for something that has double tracks....
9toes, I'm waiting for a glass company here in town to open this morning to see if they have what I need, thanks for the recommendation to try there.
twinbubba, if you hear of something or find out a link, I'll be standing by...

This also might help. http://www.extrude-a-trim.com/pages/shop...Track%20Systems One of my problems with the dual track system like this is the plexiglass I was using was too thin and thus would bow and bend just enough that it would derail.

Think this is what you are looking for, just have to find the right width.

esd56288.... Yep, I believe that's the stuff I was thinking about. However, since posting this morning, I went to a specialty glass and mirror shop here in town this morning. They can build me custom windows 3/16" glass mounted in a top and bottom rail track, 30" long and 10" tall, the exact kind of setup like you see at the Dr.'s reception windows.
The 30" span would be two pieces of glass, one 15" slides to the left, the other 15" slides to the right. The glass is mounted on little wheels in the railing and are basically silent when opening. Each window custom built to mount into a framed cutout in my blind is $30 dollars..... Well in the money for the quality of build.

We have used latice moulding for the plexiglass. Heck of a lot cheaper, works great, cuts easy and can use sheet rock screws to put it in place. Extremely easy to use.

I'm not sure why you need the center section between the two pieces of glass, it just makes a gap for wind, water and bugs to get in. Just put them in a single channel and overlap the ends, they slide just fine against each other and don't leave gaps. In a 1/4" channel you could use 1/8" plexi. A whole bunch less than $30 per window.

I just use the single u channel and let them but together, PS get the widest they have and then use the soft side of velco strips to puton the plexi where it rides in the channel...makes it supper queit and keeps it from rattling when the wind blows
