Found my roost area by being out just before sunrise and hearing them. They make a surprising amount of noise, and there's no mistaking what it is if you zero in on them. If you are walking around during the day under large trees, droppings and feathers tell the tale. Mine roost in tall oak trees in a low draw area of the ranch that I pretty much leave undisturbed.
I say 'roost area', cuz its not like they all just flock up into one big tree. I have a place I like to set up on in the front corner of my place, and no turkey are in the immediate area. However, when they start their morning wake-up and fly down cackling, they are in every direction of my set-up, but not overly close to me. Probably have all the big oaks in a 20-30 acre area staked out at night.

take an owl call with you. They hate owls. Blow the owl call before sun up. You will get a response if they are out there. Good luck!!

Good luck to ya!!! I have never turkey hunted before and I took my son out for our first turkey hunt last weekend. We are now hooked!! I can't wait util this weekend to get my daughter out there and let her see the action and see if she can drop one as well.

I picked up a few calls from Gander, got the kids a few too just to drive the wife crazy. On the way to dinner tonight we were all in the truck blowing and trying to figure out how to get the owl call to sound like a owl? (from Primos). Assume its going to take some practice
