Has anyone ever hunted the public lands around Lake Somerville? I'm thanking about hunting it this year as I will soon be getting my license in a month or so. Thanks in advance! Kevin ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif)

I hunted there a few times a long time ago(15 years ago or so). Seems like some of it was pretty thick. I never did any good there or even saw very much. Its worth going to check out though.

I hunted there quite a bit when I was going to school in College Station. That has been about four yrs. ago and I have been aching to find time to go back and do some more hunting there. I shot one good seven point out of there, lots of dove, a few ducks and saw plenty of hogs. Never saw a monster but I think they are there.

I used to duck hunt it when I went to A&M back in the late 90's. Was real good. Nails Creek a lot and then also got drawn for one of the designated blinds they have out there one year and it was real good also. Saw plenty of deer around, but never hunted them. I assume that deer is what you are asking for. The game warden there used to be super hot... if she is still there and stops you, you will be amazed!!! good luck ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cup.gif)

I hunted one of the states draw hunts 6 or 7 years a go. We had four in our party and we all came home with meat. I shot a doe and a nice 10 came out of the creek bed but was limited to 1 deer should have waited.

![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cup.gif) I've been looking at Summerville myself. Have you gotten down there to scout the area?
