Has anyone gone through the license process to possess a SBR? Thinking about building one in the future.

There are several here that have done it and a few that even build them for people. They should be along in a bit to tell you what you need to know.

Im currently in the waiting stage of the process. I filled out my paperwork(gun trust signed and notarized) gave Morgan $200 for the stamp and its been about a month +/- so for. Morgan did most of the paperwork and he also built my upper.I am currently in the process of build a couple more SBR uppers. So now Im just waiting on the stamp so I can have a complete SBR. Trying to save for a suppressor but every time I get the money I manage to spend it on more AR parts.

Its an easy process man. Texan's is on a form 4 so we are the manufacturer. This method is faster, stamps are faster on form 4's.
You can do it yourself on a form 1, but its gonna take 90-120 days to get your stamp. And you will have to get it engraved yourself too.
If your interested let me know, its a painless process. 10 minutes of paperwork, then you wait.

DSS, do you have to do paperwork for each SBR or is it a one time license?

I built this one a while back. Went with a trust. My buddy does laser engraving on guns, so I had him do all of that. Took me about 5 months to get the stamp... I hear it's less time now. Went with a 7.5" in 556, and it's getting replaced with 7.5" in 6.8 now

DSS, do you have to do paperwork for each SBR or is it a one time license? Its each time. 1-$200 stamp for 1 SBR gun. 1-$200 stamp for each silencer.

Collecting stamps is fun, but expensive. My partner has over 20 NFA stamps now. I am at around 4 with some pending. We use the same engraver as Greg does. He is the man!

If your looking to build an SBR I would suggest you use Morgan at Dallas Shooting Supply. He helped me out tremendously when I had an issue with my SBR. I am working on my second stamp and I went through Morgan this time. The Gemtech will look great on the front of this/these...(have since upgraded the 7" to an 11" due to the Gemtech warranty issue with a less than 10.5" barrel.)
