Well it was kind of crazy, a buddy of mine took me out to scout out some new areas! We were actually looking for some hogs. On the place were at, had a small pond on it, we walked up on the tank dam, which overlooked a freshly plowed field. This coyote was on the side of the field about 500 yards away. So here we were standing out in the open, I was smoking a cigarette, the wind was blowing right at the coyote, It looked at us and really didn't care that we were there. I didn't have my gun with me, so I ran back to my truck, got the gun, caller, almost forgot the clip. Ran back to were he was, he was still standing there. I wasn't comfortable making that far of a shot. I hit with distressed cottontail. He came barreling in quick, I quess he winded us or something. He took off to the right of me at about 150 yards, got him to stop,I got the crosshairs on him, pulled the trigger, nothing, the safety was still on, he took off running, I got him back in the scope, shot, the first shot hit him in the front leg, breaking it. He did a couple flips, took of running again, got him to stop again, this time aiming at his head, shot, and pretty much blew off his lower jaw, rolled around again, got up and ran off again, this time I thought he dropped and died. Went to were I thought he was, it wasn't him. There was a dried up creek he was hiding in. He came out at about 75 yards, nailed him in the side, he dropped and died. He kind of got tortured a little bit, it wasn't pretty, but I got one finally!

With the shot to the jaw, he was already dead. He just didn't know it yet.
