I had one I picked up on this forum a couple of years ago for $225. It was a nice one and it turned out to be somewhat rare. Had the "Y" stamp on the rivet. They are very good rifles from what I understand.

No joke! I would buy 10 at that price and flip em for a healthy profit.

They're now uncommon, but nothing particularly special.
Having seen some other Egyptian made weapons, QC might be a little suspect, i'd only get one for collector purposes.

It is not customary for countries to build weapons that will harm their own soldiers.
From my understanding the Egyptian ak 47 was built on Russian tooling to Russian specs. It is the closest thing to a Russian ak. I just bought a kit without the barrel for $200. It is all in fine shape and I see no reason for it not to be a suitable weapon for anyone. The Egyptian finish is in my opinion that makes them look so bad. It looks like Earl Scheib painted it on a three day drunk with some cheap black paint and a brush.
On the other hand. I would be leery of the Egyptian 7.62x39 ammo. It might have been that it was very old but it is unpredictable.
