I've lived in Fort Worth all my life and there used to be some good CFS's, but not so much anymore. Anyone have some good ones I might not have tried? I know of several that are good, but not great. Also, I don't know of anywhere that pan-fries them anymore which I prefer to deep-fried.
Those I know have had and are decent include:
M&M Steakhouse (different with all the garlic, but good) Hoffbrau (chains really don't count) Old Neighborhood Grill (decent, but not their best item) Grady's (pretty good, but overpriced) Reatta (obviously similar to Grady's since that's where he started; same comments) West Side Cafe (Good home cooking, above average CFS) Arlington Steak House (It was great 15 years ago, but I havent't been back. Is it still good?) Babe's (stick with the chicken)
None of the above come close to Mary's or Flossy's in Strawn and it was the thread above that got me thinking about it.
Anyone have any suggestions in Tarrant County?

R&K in Azle and Weatherford has a real good CFS. IMO but then again thats just inside the Parker county line, go figure.

They closed for good a few weeks ago, but hadn't been the same in many years. New ownership took over from the Massey family and ran it into the ground.

What about KFC on Wednesday's for $1.99? Might have to start eating that with the gas prices.

You are trapped on an island with an endless supply of CFS. Only problem is, you have to choose between Wednesday night KFC or Grandy's.

Seems like all the GOOD places in Tarrant County that had CFS have gone out of business. There used to be a truck stop on Mansfield Hwy called Mary's that was hard to beat. They've gone under as well. Anybody remember the Hayloft in Ft Worth?

My daughter just ate at a new place called the Hot Tub on Trail Lake Drive, across from Foster Park, south of TCU. Just a block north of Charlie's Hamburgers. The cook said Mary (yes, Strawn's Mary) taught him. Daughter said CFS was nearly as good as Mary's, and a lot closer.

I loved your old place and admit I still eat there some. Your breakfast is great at the cafe, but I haven't had lunch there in years. Are you open for supper? My friend Andy assured me you used great quality ingredients.

I miss a good chicken fried steak.. or chicken fried chicken. Down here in the lower Valley a bunch of mexican food and on S. Padre Island sea food. When I need my fix I go to the boot company in Raymondville. They do it better than anyone down here, but I will always remember those wortking mens resturants out on the NW freeway in Houston 30 years ago. Sometimes plant managers would take me out to lunch at them..wow.. They would flop off the side of the plate in every direction and the mound of french fries wouldn't hardly let you see the meat..

Drew's Place, on Curzon in FW, off of Camp Bowie. Excellent soul food, and the CFS is top notch.
I went to Massey's a couple of years ago and it was very disappointing.

It is a bit pricey, but not too bad. Very tender steak, you could cut it with your fork.

Fred's on Currie just south of West 7th has a sourdough chicken fried steak that's pretty tasty, one of the best in Fort Worth. Better come hungry though.
