This is an old fashioned bait and switch post. Since you are here I'll tell you about Gravy. Gravy is a orphaned black cat I found on the side of the road when he was a little kitten. Gravy has thrived on our ranch and gotten quite big. Last season a friend of mine and I were hunting around the headquarters and by buddy shot a high flying dove. He had to have led this bird thirty feet. I was standing back behind him about 60 yards and got to see the whole thing. His black lab takes off for a text book retrieve. I watch in atonishment as Gravy takes off from the opposite direction. He too saw the awesome shot but had no intentions of bringing the dove back. Two highly trained black bullets streak toward the downed dove. Gravy turned out to be faster! This season I shoot a eurasian dove that was white with tan dots all over him. I was pumped! Never seen anything like it. I show all my clients and call my taxidermist. I put the trophy dove in a basket on the front of the four wheeler and when we finished cleaning dove I go to get my trophy and he is gone. I find a pretty pile of feathers and gravy grooming white and tan feathers from his chops. There was a mourning dove in the basket with the white bird. Gravy left it alone. I love that cat.
