I have a long tail. You can fish from it, but it's not ideal.

I have 2 boats

One champion for fishing, and a john boat for hunting.

The john boat is for all the hard to get places and what not, you know the drill.

Gotta duck boat, but haven't ran it in 2-3 years.

BassCat that will be on the water 3-5 days a week for the next 4 months.

I have a duck boat that can be fished out of. It is a little 15' Tracker Grizzley with a 20HP Merc and Trolling motor.

A Bass Cat for just that.

And a Pontoon boat for pleasure. But I have draped enough Camo on the pontoon to take a big group out before. grin

We have an alum duck boat, but we use it as transportation only, we usually just hide it and hunt from blind, brush, trees etc.

Hey Gdogg, I was told by Guy that we have very similar boats. You mind me asking what kind of jack plate ya got on it? How much do they run?

Oh yeah, I should get back ...

Got a Sea Ark 1648 w/ outboard that I purposely bought for fishing and hunting.

I hunted out of a jon boat with a 6 hp evinrude for one season. I changed to layout blinds, so I just take my bass boat and then park it a hundred yards down the bank.

I'm selling my jon boat, motor, and blind frame. Layouts are SO MUCH more effective, or so I think.

14ft jonboat with a 6hp longtail. Started out as a light fly fishing skiff, but honestly gets more use as a duck boat due to scheduling issues the last few years. Great river runner.

Also have a very wide and stable 14' canoe. Plan on duck hunting out of that some in the coming season.

Thought for the day: Ducks were almost hunted to extinction long before camo was invented.

I just bought a 16 foot flat bottom with a 40 hp. I plan to put a deck up front and use it for fishing in the spring and summer and duck hunting in the fall. I doubt I will hunt out of the boat. No matter how much camo you put on it they still stick out. We will probably use layout blinds or get into some trees.

Its going to be different since I've only hunted on ponds but I'm looking forward to the adventure.

Here is a Avery Quik Set Blind on a 14 foot boat. It not too hard to put together, but it will take you a whole day. It's good to have some help:

This little jewel, if I can ever finish it.......College expense has it's foot on mt throat right now and showing no signs of letting up. My oldest is heading for Louisiana Tech to pursue a mechanical engineering degree..
I am about to try and make a career change soon as well @ age 50 that ought to be interesting...I've been an industrial mechanic for 30 years and my body is starting to let me know it's had all of that it can stand...
With all this going on I still hope to get this thing at least painted, trolling motor installed, running lights and tags so I can use it opening morning.....

Isaiah 40:31 "but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

got a new beavertail final attack and im dyin to try it out. im hoping the 55lb thrust minn kota pushes it fast enough. im still tryin to figure out a good method of attaching a lot of raffia and or natural veggitation and still keep a low profile in the water.

I have 3. All can be and have been used for both duck hunting and fishing. In order of preference:

1) 1648 War Eagle LDV w/ 25hp Merc 2-stroke

2) 12' Ocean Kayak Angler

3) 16' fiberglass canoe w/ 30# trolling motor

I hear ya....they can be very annoying. I pretty much only use it at the coast. Would be impossible to hunt some of the areas down there without it though.

I didn't know that the airboat guys on the rivers rallied birds.....I thought only the coastal guy were accused of doing that.

I use mine for anything on the water. Fishing, hunting, skiing, etc. A good all-around boat.

I built a boat back in 03 or 04 from Home Depot plywood and marine glass and epoxy. We hunted out of it until last year and I retired it. The plywood was beginning to check on the floor she was beginning to show her age. We got a TON of useage from that plywood boat hunting ducks and fish. It would have lasted forever but I didn't have a garage and it was left outside in the weather.

We are running around in a 1650 Xpress now.
