All you have to do is come to our place in Ivanhoe and trap them!

It's the beginning of the duck nesting season again and I'm tired of loosing so many ducklings after they survived nest predation by coons and yotes, hatched, and only to become appetizers for the turtles.

PM me if you have an interest or know someone who might. up

I've shot them with a .22 and a 20 gauge until I'm sick of shooting them. The more I shot the smarter they got. At one point I thought I had made a pretty good dent in their population until the first sunny warm day following a week long cold spell and there wasn't an open spot on hundreds of yards of shoreline because of all the durned turtles sunning themselves! Looked like a Ninja convention on the French Riviera.

Once they learned that the F-150 driving around the pond was a danger, I had to switch to using the Jeep, they are actually that alert to know the difference. After that I went to the small JD tractor and finally to the Husqvarna riding mower. Now they have all our vehicles made and I can't get close.

"Free - 5000 turtles" Man I just had to read this one!

I agree with T-bar, about a 1/4 stick ought to do it! Then they float and make targets that don't move, if they ain't dead already.

Why not just build some traps and catch them?

There are all sorts of easy floating traps that can be built for a few dollars.

Ain't as fun as shooting them, but it sounds like you have already exhausted that option.

Turtles are smart! You have to belly craw into position in full camo with the wind in your favor so they cant see or smell you. THEN you can cut loose with an all out assault on them with your weapon of choice! They will never know what hit them!

I'm dead serious when I say that there was a guy looking for a turtle lease in the "land and lease" section a few months ago.

Just really, really wanted to kill turtles (said he would use any method the land owner preferred) and that he would pay.

Maybe do a search?
