I have to say I have always been a Remington lover, but I recently traded guns with a forum member and picked up a Model 12 223. I went to the range Monday and after setting an new scope and bore sighting it it was only shooting 6 inches to the right. Within 5 minutes it was hitting a nickel size target from 100 yrds out. Has anyone had any issues with a model 12?

Only issue is defending it from the Savage haters. The best way to do that is to keep doing what you're doing- shoot it and enjoy the rifle's consistant accuracy.

mine is the 12V in .308, tackdriver, but a heavy rifle to carry around, will work in a deer blind great. my Stevns 200 7-08 also a shooter, dime groups. they may not be as expensive as a Remington 700, but they are better shooters nowadays.

I have a 12LPV in .308. Works good.

She was only a whiskey maker, but he loved her still.

I have a model 12 in 22-250 and its not so great. I would expect to get better than 1" MOA but can't get it under an inch even with hand loads and its a copper hog too. Maybe I just got a bad one.

Wife hunts with a 10FM Sierra, son and I both have 10FP's, and the back-up gun is a 16FCSS, all 308's, all way-sub MOA. The 10FPs will single hole at 100 if we do our part

I shoot a Model 10 LE1 with 20" barrel. It will out shoot my custom Broughton 223. Savage puts their money where it belongs,,,in button rifled barrels.

Keep this quiet, we "Salvage" guys don't want everyone buying one and running the prices up! Not real good looking guns - but I don't pay for good looks.

99CD-.308, 110DL-30.06, 110CL-25-06, Mod 24 O/U .223/12ga, 16 FLHSS- 300WSM and everyone of them are accurate shooters. I realize there may be a "not so good one" every now and then, but the only problems I have had is when I had a screw not quite tightened down on a mount or ring (2nd time I made sure I tightened them in a pattern and made sure I got them all the same), didn't have the stock tight, or "I" just wasn't with the program when I went to shoot. I'm a bit older and between the eyes and arthritis some days are better than others. up

Some more love for Savage and in particular the model 12.

Sirrah243, I would like to look at your 22-250 if I had the chance. I have a model 12 with the extra long and heavy barrel in a 22-250 and it shoots sub MOA with any old ammo and will shoot 1/2MOA groups with certain specific loads. It's a champ. I've always been told the 22-250 is one of the most forgiving rounds amoungst the super fast 22 calibers. And I have found this to be true with my rifle so I'm surprised you're having such bad luck.

Said it before and I'll say it again, the Accutrigger system is the best factory trigger on the market. In fact, I still prefer it over the Timmney on my 700.

I'm a dude who likes long barrels!
